Mike Dan Tony is gonna get screwed over in COY Voting

    I felt like this deserved its own thread.

    Mr. Tony has already won 51 games this season and turned James Harden into a likely a runner-up MVP, something that NO coach has ever done since Kevin McHale coached Harden two years ago.

    Yet people on this Earth think that Gregory Popsandwich should win COY just because the Spurs have won MORE games??? That makes no sense. Dan Tony has a better offensive stat line each and every night, it makes no difference what seed the Rockets end up as, or how many more wins Popsandwich has.

    And for the select few who think Eric Spoltra should win because he was the worst coach of the year for the first 40 games, and now the Heatles are winning NBA games all of the sudden and MIGHT make the playoffs is laughable!

    It's simple: Michael Dantooine should win Coach of the Year because he has evaluated this Rockets team from losing in the 1st round, to probably losing in the second round. I'm serious.

    It's either Morey or D'Antoni, I rather have D'Antoni win it since I still don't like Morey, but I do think the Celtics, Wizards or Jazz coach deserve it as well.

    MDA vs Stevens should be it.

    Pop is great obviously but I feel like the Spurs talent is always underrated. Who cares where guys were drafted. Look at their talent and depth. Kawhi, LMA, Parker, Green, Gasol.... Similarly Kerr is stacked with talent.

    The Rockets are by comparison dereft of talent. And the Celtics are similar and ahead of schedule.

    No, why should I in my right mind like Morey? Without his little theory, MDA might have explored the mid-range game more, he does not really value coaching. If it wasn't for that evil owner, we would still be stuck with McHale and not have hired MDA. He is constantly in the media, giving his opinion and getting involved in the MVP race etc. I like a quiet GM in the background, who just does his job and while Morey has gotten us the right players, all of these factors + not going all in with the 3 million makes me dislike him still. He probably would deserve EOY, but it won't be both MDA and Morey winning.

    Dislike morey and our owner is evil even though you just gave him credit for the coaching hire?

    you will probably hate whoever is in charge. Are you always bothered by authority and dont trust/dislike people in power of the things you care about?

    This is all recency bias. Taking into consideration the whole of the season, the Rootkits still the front runners for several awards.

    MVP: Jade Hellmanns
    COTY: Mork Baba Booey
    6MOTY: Aria Giordonni or Loofah Dimsums

    If it was me, I would vote for Pop every year until he retired. It is ridiculous that they have been consistently this good, for this long, no matter what players they have or don't have. There have been lots of coaches that have looked really good when they have really good players, and yes Pop has had really good players, but he has developed a lot of players and made guys look good and fit well in their system even if they aren't as great once they go somewhere else.

    IMO Pop is one of, if not the, best coach ever.


    God I hate the Spurs.

    Isn't COY cursed? I thought most recipients get fired within 2 years.

    Sort of like how nearly every team with the MIP or 6th man man never win a title.
