It's called the Sixth Man of the Year Award so I'm confused as to why this is a debate. Those who have been watching clearly see that Eric Gordon has consistently been the 'sixth' Rockets player off the bench. That being said, Lou Williams is, without a doubt, the Seventh Man of the Year.
WIlliams need to be a lot more consistent. He had 2 great games in March. He was 7 out of 42 for 3 pointers for the rest of March, that's only 16%.
I think LOU won it today. EG might start the next 5 games with Anderson out as well, which hurts his case
Dude Lou and Gordon are such different players and I love it. Lou it seems will have duds and then go off for 30. Gordon I think we rely on for 15 or so a night. I like them
Early season Gordon is not the same as current Gordon. I think Lou is a better passer, Gordon is probably better 2 guard. Neither might get it.
And to be fair to Coach, Lou is getting nearly identical minutes he got with the Lakers. Gordon is an NBA starter coming off the bench who is 30+ mpg player each yr of his career. Lou has never reached 29 mpg. Probably has something to do with one is 6'4 and the other 6'1, and one is the proven superior shooter and the other is barely matching that in a career year. Don't get me wrong. I love Lou. But the minutes are who they are, throughout their careers.
Lou has passed Gordon for me as my pick for SMOY. The fact that he integrated with our team so seamlessly is a big part of that. I feel like he is a bigger x-factor / game changer than Gordon is.
Perhaps Ryan Anderson should come off the bench with Dekker and Lou Williams and Gordon should start.
But he is not shooting well since he joined Rockets. Did you notice he shot 0 out 12 in 4 games before tonight? Did you notice he shot 7 out 30 before the Lakers game? He literally had 2 good games all month. I hope he gets hot for playoff. We can't depend on this kind of streaky %.
