    26. A paid off house, sailboat and $1 million in the bank. I could make that work.

    27. I like my job and life well enough, so I have no interest in retiring before 50, but financially speaking I would be comfortable retiring now if I had 3 million. I'd be comfortable retiring after 50 with 1-1.5 million (or its equivalent in future-bucks).

I know 3 million is a lot but I don't want to be unretired by a market crash.

79 I almost retired at 45 but just was not ready. At 52 I retired and am getting buy with a low 6 figure income. If my wife just quit buying so damn many cars and my children and grandchildren quit needing stuff like college and cars to drive to college and of course they need car insurance. 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandkids. Will it ever end.

I'm in my early thirties. I'm shooting for a paid off mortgage and $1 million before I retire, which I figure is about 6-10 years away.

Don't know but my crappy heart makes me feel like a 100 some days.

Get a saving money in your head and don't deter from it. Wild impulse decisions can cost you years in retirement.

The number goes way up once you have a wife and then kids.

It's a bit of a vicious cycle, because as you make more money, your expenses typically go way up (bigger house, nicer cars, expectations for better vacations). Props to the players who can maintain low expenses as their compensation rises.

It's called having a conversation, chump. Try it sometime.

Not sure “none of your damn business“ or calling someone a chump qualify as solid conversation, but to each his own.
Would like to see how your conversations usually turn out, if that's your behavior.

I retired at age 35, spent about 10 years in the finance department for one of your local Houston car dealers. If you ever purchased a vehicle from Planet Ford 5-10 years ago you probably know who I am.

Being divorced with no children allowed me to basically stick all of my money into IRA's and mutual funds. As it stands, I'm pretty much set for life.

My Ex-wife went and married some super rich dude in Palm Beach, Fl. She's the reason I was able to retire early. Thank you, Megs.

I have excellent conversations here, but obviously not with you. Do a search. This topic has come up here several times over the years, and when I've bothered to post, that's been my good natured reply. I'm not being good natured with you, however, because you don't deserve it.

I'm sorry you're so sensitive. It must be difficult for you. Good luck with that.

Need to fix your profile page. It shows you to be ten years younger. :)

Yea sure, I'm the sensitive one, not the one that's getting agitated and personal every single post.

I "don't deserve it", uhm okay. Not sure when I've insulted you or anyone in the past.
