This part I agree with. The debate keeps going on fixing our expensive healthcare system but then the policy only impacts health insurance. There is a whole lot of health care industry that is not insurance that is keeping its head down and hoping no one will notice. Big Pharm has a crazy business model where they hope a couple of home runs will cover the costs of a bunch of whiffs -- and pay investors a high risk premium for taking the chance. We have medical boards constricting the inflow of new doctors. We have medical schools loading doctors with large student loans. We have hospitals investing billions in capex and recouping the costs with enormous margins on their patient bills. We still have a lot of doctors operating like small businesses with no economies of scale. But all we can talk about is insurance.
So...when this vote fails, Trump is going to take his ball home. He is just going leave Obamacare as is. If Republicans would do what is in the BEST interest in the country, they will pass bills to fix the problems. It could be done within a few weeks.
"The Hill's Whip List said 36 Republicans would vote no, with many more possibly voting against the measure. The GOP could only afford 22 defections. " http://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/325690-house-expected-to-pull-obamacare-vote-from-schedule
single payer addresses most of that; i have said before, with single payer, rate is going to be down and because of how expensive dr training is, there should be programs in that area as well
LOL...8 years......The Republicans had to come up with something. FAIL. The Republicans will PAY for not fixing Obamacare.....especially when the Democrats will put something for to do it. 2018...........will be another dead march for the republicans in congress.
The Art of the Repeal! Immigration Ban: Fail Trumpcare: Fail Popular Vote: Fail Weak Inauguration Crowd: Fail Obama Tapped Me!: Fail Don't seem like a whole lotta winnin' going on.
Blame the democrats that the Republicans couldn't pass a bill despite the majority. Blame the democrats that the Republicans couldn't pass a bill that Democrats weren't even asked to offer their opinion on.
In fairness though, it's cleaning up the mess the Democrats made. Sure Republicans should be blamed for not having a plan to fix what the Democrats screwed up, but we can't forget the reason we're in this situation.
Just want to point out that the ACA had done SOME to bend the cost curve. I believe healthcare inflation in the United States is at its lowest rate in a long time. In general I agree though that all the talk (that gets attention anyway) is always about insurance plans and not about breaking the cost curve.
Trump on Health Care Bill’s Failure: ‘We Were Very Close’ http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/trump-health-care-bill-s-failure-we-were-very-close-n738326 LOL.
We're in this situation because for 6 years the Republicans refused to offer any attempt to improve ACA because they wanted a chance to win the White House on its back. Instead of trying to make it better they actively undermined it (Rubio killing the risk corridors for example) and then refused to offer up a single bill to improve it. There were TONS of things that could have been done that would have helped ACA during the 6 years it was law under Obama, things even he would have gotten on board with. Republicans refused to even talk about anything that wasn't spelled R-E-P-E-A-L. That was the strategy. It worked. They got the white house with both houses. So now what? Sorry, got nothing for you Murica! Blame the democrats!
That's not really what the data shows. It shows that as soon as the ACA went into effect the cost started rising at higher rates than it was before it went into effect.
Dems weren't cooperating. They want to keep obamacare. I guess it has something to do with Obama's legacy or something.
LOL... Trump blames Ryan, Priebus, Democrats... and now his son-in-law??? Trump, the gift that just keeps on giving. Trump unhappy Jared Kushner took a powder on the ski slopes as health care bill floundered http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/24/politics/jared-kushner-aspen-ski-trip-obamacare/
