harden is going to win MVP. At this point not worried about it at all. Just enjoy the rest of the season and get ready for the playoff ride

Harden is going to win MVP. I have something on eBay that went from last week to a so-so price, to an eye-popping final value. No shilling involved.

If you know your job going into a show is to take the counterpoint to "Harden is MVP", it's not that difficult to come up with ACTUAL statistical evidence supporting RW. And I'm not just talking about "Hurrr Durr Triple Doubles!" either. He's having an absolutely incredible season that can be charted to show that it's one for the ages, but moronic statements like "If he dips to 9.9 assists, I'm not voting for him" or "He started ahead of Harden when they were on the same team!" completely diminish the point of the debate. I don't NECESSARILY blame Max Kellerman, but not because he's innocent.....it's more because I think the overall product that ESPN is going for insults the very essence of intelligent sports fans. Also, it's VERY telling that most of the media members that we would call "smart" are more focused on Harden vs. Kawhi than Harden vs. Westbrook.

if the media were to give Westbrook the MVP over Harden then they'd be sending the message the stats trump winning

If the MVP voters are the same people who vote for the All-NBA teams (the same group that left Harden off the 1st, 2nd & 3rd teams last year after the season he had) I would think there's a HIGH probability that they're not going to vote him MVP this yr.

Well isn't that pretty much what he did? The actual statistical data falls apart after you get past the 2 rebounds and 2 points per game argument. Plus you have to factor in that Harden has more assists so it's down to just the 2 rebounds and the triple double number advantage really starts to get shaky.

The problem with defending Westbrook is that you only have 1 argument and it's that the triple double sounds awesome. And it is. But like Stephen A. said, Harden is also doing amazing work and on a better team. On top of that, once you really get into the advanced numbers, Harden is statistically better than Westbrook as well. ESPN is lazy and they want a headline that writes itself. Triple double is easy to cover. I think the people that vote are potentially smarter but who knows.

    Some quotes...

"Harden's transformation into a truly elite playmaker is the most out-of-nowhere leap we've ever seen."

"Make no mistake, the Rockets' path toward overachieving begins and ends with Harden's transformation."

According to my Twitter...Sportsnation is currently upset with Harden because of his quotes about rest.

"Out of nowhere", that quote tells you all you need to know about the media. These guys play off their own created narratives, Harden has been this guy for three years had us in the wcf but now everyone is calling it a transformation and attributing credit to the MDA system. Smh

Wow. They talked hardcore **** about James Harden because of what he said yesterday about rest. They managed to turn a quote about wanting to play basketball into an actual negative. Marcellus Wiley said if you're such a hooper why don't you play defense and then called him lazy by saying that quote to appeal to the masses. Then the other moron said Harden can make that comment because he doesn't play in June.

They asked him a question about whether he needs rest and he answered it honestly you **** tard assholes. They act like he volunteered this out of nowhere. They put words and intention in Harden's quote that clearly is not there. How the **** do you attack a player for wanting to play basketball. I've never seen anything like it. This media is unbelievable. Can you imagine them destroying Westbrook for saying he's a hooper? They'd praise him for his work ethic and desire to bring it every game. What a **** show.

I just reminded that a-hole that the Spurs season last year ended on May 12. And their season prior to that ended on May 2. Yet I don't hear anyone giving Pop sh-t for resting his guys this season.

How many people from ESPN actually have MVP votes? They're the only website that is consistently hating and clueless about Harden.

17 people affiliated with ESPN had votes last year. Some of them went to respectable people like Hubie Brown, Doris Burke, Michael Wilbon, Mike Tirico, and former Rocket Jon Barry (who I feel would vote for Harden). People like Beadle and Max Kellerman aren't gonna be getting votes.
