Welcome OP! And YES...definitely frowned upon!! ...I suggest you do some DIY work on that jersey, write ''Williams'' on the back and you are good to go I can feel your excitement though, I too will be flying in from Europe next Saturday to attend my first Rockets games vs OKC and GS. Hoping for 2 more boring WINS!
Finally a useful comment in this thread. @Y2JT Try to find some legit Tex-Mex food, and BBQ before you leave town. Also, if you're in a dessert mood, try Shipley Donuts. The chocolate filled are sublime, and you can never go wrong with a kolache. And Whataburger, because it's Texas' answer to other regional American burger chains. Don't worry about the Howard jersey, what matters is that you're wearing Rockets red. You'll see all kinds of eclectic jerseys there. The Space Center and Museum of Natural Science are both cool, if you like museums, or the Galleria if you like giant shopping malls.
Attended my first ever rox/nba game this year in Toronto sitting 8 rows behind the boys. Amazing experience
Thanks a lot all! Lot's of ideas relating to food and some far out weird conversation, I like your style I have to ask though; what is OP?
OP= Original poster Also, if you didn't know what that meant then I highly recommend you peruse the @heypartner thread to catch up on other board lingo/memes you may be unfamiliar with. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/index.php?threads/2016-17-garm-and-dish-memes-explained.281305/
The Toyota Center is on the south east side of Downtown Houston.... Downtown Houston by and large is a collection of skyscrapers filled with bankers, lawyers and energy company folks. There is really no cultural scene or place for socializing. There are a number of restaurants downtown to feed the working masses who work in these sky scrapers though and some are quite good. There are clusters of bars and other isolated drinking establishments throughout the areas of the city... I like Kirby Ice house off of Richmond.. the areas of town, "the heights" has its own bar scene, "Washington" is a street with a bunch of bars off of it and "midtown" just outside of downtown has a number of bars. Houston is not really a tourist city. Sorry to break the bad news. Some cities are great for tourists and others are not. We have a museum district and of course the Space center and all that but if you're expecting a great tourist experience this isn't it. If I can relate to you, I once visited Manchester, England.... it's kind of like that.... very business oriented/blue collar.... not a touristy place like London or New York.
Unfortunately I've never been to Houston yet but I was lucky to catch them play on the road quite a few times. My first time was in MSG I think it was in 2013. It was also my first NBA game ever to see live. I just remember it was such an experience after watching so many NBA games in TV and finally getting to see them live. My first impression was that the game is so much faster than you see on TV, and the fans are nothing like you see in Europe. It's a much more friendly kind of family entertainment show than the crazy competitiveness with the fans in Europe. Jeremy Lin had a great game and Carmelo was a beast (he scored like 40+ points). Howard was disappointing (I had huge expectations from him) but Harden was there in the final minutes to give us a close win. Truly awesome experience. I managed to catch them play a few times after on the road, but there's nothing like the first time.
Welcome to H-town. Just use some duck tape to cover Howard's name on the back, there have been several #12 players. Maybe people will want to guess who you covered up. Enjoy the city, food and sights. NASA space center has a lot to see and worth the trip. I wouldn't waste much time on the beaches but our seafood is great. Must have BBQ, Tex-Mex and our burgers. Welcome!
Smoke some mar1juana before the game If they have the dollar beers before tip off then get there early and get shitfaced
Yes, this will help you fully experience your first ever live Houston Rockets game..... Well he said he's from England. Do they have sunlight there?
We got Irish car bombs going tonight. But I'm watching at home. The goal for me tonight is to keep my pants on in front of my guests.
