    That was comedic.
I am sure it is because the Tax Code allows it. Are you suggesting that he should pay more than required?

He is going to fight for the little people, drain the swamp and make the super rich pay their fair share of the tax, LOL.

I think the joke is Trump is trying to get rid of AMT so he can pay even less LEGALLY.
So the 2005 return, AMT made him pay $31 million more.

If AMT was gone, he would have paid $5.3 million out of income of $150 million (effective rate of 3.5%).

Those numbers are accurate. If not for the AMT then the depreciation and other write offs claimed would have made his taxes only 5.3 mil. It's not different than anyone who has tax write offs.

Nothing really for 2005, the word is that he leaked this document out himself as a distraction and to show he really does not have anything to hide.

Sure, that was the spin after they found nothing and it started to backfire, but is that really true? Hard to say. If so, it's just an example of the Trump team taking advantage of a really stupid talking head with no credibility.

Honestly I'm surprised they even released it at all once they saw what was in it. All they did was kill a bunch of narratives that they ran with previously by showing that Trump paid so much in taxes.

So, Maddow says she has Trumps tax returns, and they don't reveal much- so, did she say, "NOW we'll see proof of the Russians!" Or is that the Trumpettes projecting that? Seems to me that both sides are playing this silly game of pseudo-GOTCHA! that they need to drop. We're not in high school anymore- maybe we need to act like it (emphasis on "we").

I know the talking point is MSM is pushing an agenda but it could actually be for the sake of transparency they're reporting the news they're given and in this case it was a non-controversial tax return. Isn't that what people that complain about bias from the media want? To quote Dragnet, just the facts? Don't have cable television anymore so I'm kinda out of the loop on MSNBC besides that it's a liberal leaning news station.

Well I wouldn't really consider MSNBC to be "MSM", they are a fringe propaganda network, so yeah, you expect them to push an agenda. It's possible that the more reputable networks (like all of them) wouldn't bite on this.

What's really irritating, to me, is not even MSNBC or Fox or CNN or Yahoo. What is EXTREMELY irritating is Social Media. Namely, Twitter. That's where the hype came from on this one, it was "Maddow promises to show tax returns and Twitter Goes Crazy!" Well, who really gives a **** what people are saying on Twitter? At least with the MSM there is a MODICUM or more of research being done and a point of view worth considering. Social media has turned into a big heaping pile of steaming garbage lately, and we're all better off getting off.

Well, really the hype came from Maddow herself and I don't really blame her, she was trying to hype up her show in order to get a ratings spike. She's not the only person to pull that clickbait type nonsense while pretending to be a journalist. She was hyping up having the tax information as if it would be something damning which made those on the left salivate....then she had nothing.

    Lot's of people.

The Democrats got their assess hacked by Russia and then were between by a compulsive Twitter-addict. They definitely need to brush up on modern technology next time they visit the library.
