There may be a hard cap, which the Texans are currently approx. 40 mil under right now, but I've found if an org really wants a player they get that player. Example: the Pats adding Revis a few yrs ago.

Don't worry about that, the cap goes up every yr.

Number is more like 25 mil and we have always re-signed our guys the year before they hit free agency.

Maybe I don't think McNair's guys are that good.

The only way that is possible is with smart cap management. The Pats are pretty awesome about it.....and that's why they let people walk all the time. Not just anyone either, Guys like Wes Welker and Vince Wilfork are Pats legends, Aqib Talib was the best DB on their roster when they let him walk. The Pats don't play around.....and I don't think the Texans should either. Don't pick up BS and if a player isn't cutting it or is asking for too much money, let them walk.

I'm in total agreement with this and because Hopkins had an off yr I wouldn't reup him this offseason and would've spent the money to fix the defense in FA and drafted offense.

The defense doesn't really need "fixing", it's actually pretty amazing. BOB's garbage offense is what needs all the help it can get. Also, if you don't pay Nuk this season, it just costs more when you finally try to get him a new deal or you franchise him. Might as well get that out of the way.

1/2 the secondary is gone and I would like to save money and upgrade from Cushing. He's a shell of his former self.

Let Nuk prove last season was a fluke. If it wasn't either pay him or let him go. Fuller in yr 3 should be able to step up and you can draft another WR. If you disagree with me I certainly understand, 1. I think Nuk is a low end WR1/high end WR2. I prefer a WR corps like the Pats/Lions/Packers. (Well paid guys, but not top 10 paid guys.)

Bouye only played significant time due to Kevin Johnson's injury because he was basically the #4 guy on the roster going into the season and you'll have K.J. Dillon stepping up at safety.

No matter what, someone will overpay for Nuk, and the team doesn't want to lose him. That means they give him a deal this offseason. Baby hands Fuller so far has been garbage, so he's certainly not a reason why Nuk would be expendable.....especially when you factor in that BOB hasn't shown an ability to run even a decent offense. The guy needs all the help he can get.

Hope you're right about Dillon, I like him coming out of college but coming back from an ACL in less than a yr is no sure thing. KJo has yet to prove much because he cant stay healthy.

I'm not worried about McNair's money...I'm worried about our salary cap and making smart moves so we can one day extend Hopkins and Clowney, while adding complementary pieces that can contribute without handicapping our future.

We've had what? A total of one FA visit? Just weird to me. There's not one guy on the FA market they have enough interest in to visit with..?

None actually. We had one scheduled with Remmers, but he signed elsewhere.

Lets look at the top WR's Jones/Brown/Green/OBJ/Bryant etc... AC vs Hopkins.

    Catches ?

I'm not saying Hopkins isn't good, just not top 5 god which is the money he will be looking for. He needs to prove last year was on Brock.

I've been called worse but please enlighten me on this deep thought of yours.

It very much seems that we are in a holding pattern for Romo. No idea if that is actually the case but sure looks like it.
