Good points... I wonder if labyrinthine expenses in hospital costs can be exposed with system upgrades. We let AI figure it out for us? They're starting to do everything else...
republican governors coming out against the Trump/republican replacement plan... Republican governors skeptical of House GOP health care bill http://www.politico.com/story/2017/03/gop-governors-react-health-care-bill-236041
One the basic principles of economics is that medical / health does not conform to free market ideas due to the concept of perfect inelasticity of demand. So no, your basic ideas of pushing things into the free market are not acceptable.
And so much for Trump promise to insure everyone... yet another broken Trump promise... Trump administration shifts away from 'insurance for everybody' http://www.latimes.com/politics/was...on-shifts-away-from-1489521022-htmlstory.html
I don't agree with you much but you are spot on here. If they pass this BS they are cutting their own throat.
Eh yes and no. We simply need to get rid of Medicare if are going to go the route you and yours prefer. Give people what they put into medicare and let them enjoy that free market.
Medicare was a bad idea to start with. All entitlements are but people become dependent on them. That is why single payer would be a huge cluster**** waiting to happen.
I simply disagree that they are a bad idea, it just doesn't make sense anymore to subsidize the elderly if we are going to move towards a GOP style healthcare repeal. Entitlements is what's keeping America from having a vast underclass of poverty and turning into a third world country. Frankly you are just ignorant about history as even when Americans had no entitlements, the vast majority of Americans were poor. Technology was a game changer that produced great advancements at the expense of full employment, very few countries left with subsistence farming.
“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the people discover they can vote themselves largess out of the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the canidate promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that democracy always collapses over a loose fiscal policy--to be followed by a dictatorship.” ― Alexander Fraser Tytler
Relevance to the issue at hand? Taking away entitlements isn't going to produce the results you think they will. Alexander Fraser Tytler never saw a steam engine or a mass migration of people from subsistence farming to the cities.
like I said, that is the problem with entitlements. Once you start them you can't quit yet some of you guys want to expand it to everyone for some crazy reason. Had we never started medicare, today's seniors would have made other plans that did not center around the government taking care of them. I am sure that would have been taken care of in employment and retirement packages since most companies retirement packages medical coverage stops once Medicare kicks in.
LOL.... you should take a look at how much people actually have saved for retirement on top of SSN and Medicare..... spoiler.... http://www.cnbc.com/2016/09/12/here...american-family-has-saved-for-retirement.html I'm sorry but your worldview just doesn't match reality.
That is the reason they should have never started to begin with. We have had the Democrat party giving away everything possible to buy votes and just this past primary people actually supported Bernie Sanders who was promising free everything and someone else would pay for it. That is the problem with giving away stuff, eventually you run out of other people's money to take and redistribute. Unfortunately, the Republicans are becoming just as bad as the Democrats. They only want to be fiscally conservative when a Democrat is in office. As soon as a Republican is in office they want to buy votes too.
and perhaps if they didn't have the Social Security entitlement, they would have saved more money and perhaps worked longer. What I am saying is things would be much different if we never had entitlements. Seniors would have worked longer and saved more. The federal government would not have replaced the father in so many homes. The problem is eventually the whole thing will collapse under its own weight just like we are seeing happening to Obamacare. We have built and entitlement society that counts on more young people than senior people paying in to sustain it all while pushing abortions and birth control so there are less young people paying in. To top it off we have a ton off people out of work meaning more on are the government take and not paying in.
Based on what? Life without entitlements is clearly documented in this country and presently in countries without entitlements. It doesn't turn out like you think, people just suffer more and there's much more poverty.
That's right. the GOP was against handing clean needles to heroin addicts until heroin became a white person's problem. Really it isn't about handouts - it's about non-whites "mooching off the system" - this is why Trump is so popular because he really is just playing to the core of what really drives conservative values - race.
