http://www.politicususa.com/2017/03/05/rachel-maddow-history-finishing-top-10-viewed-shows-tv.html I could be wrong, but I think Bill O'Reilly's rating peaked in 2009. Does being the lead commentator of the sitting President mean bigger ratings? I think the anger of losing side (both sides) would induce people to watch/want to watch anything that re-affirms the view that a grave injustice has being done by the opposite party's election. Kind of like how the Daily show peaked during the Bush's presidency. Edit: To note though: Tucker Carlson’s show was also rated #4, higher than Rachel. Fox still seems to rule the "News" show network. Quick positives, at least people seem to care more. Though some of it might be how our actual political process has more twist, turns and DRAMA than actual reality shows lawls, smh.
Go Tucker! If I was a liberal, I would think twice before entertaining an invitation from him. He is savage.
This doesn't surprise me. I was mentioning to my wife just last week that Maddow and Lawrence O'Donnell, while clearly harboring no love for Trump, have probably seen their ratings spike as a result of this so-called presidency. Personally, it took me two months after the election before I watched any news at all. I couldn't bear to witness the gloating of Kellyanne Conway and her like.
so by ratings spike they mean she finished in the top 10 for her 9-10 time slot according to Neilsen (5K houses) ? just want to make I understand what this ratings spike is.
This is what happens when you're in the opposition. All the major networks are seeing huge ratings growth. Even newspapers like the Washington Post and New York Times are seeing major revenue growth. You see the same trend when the Republicans are in the opposition. This is all natural stuff. People become more engaged when their party of choice is out of power.
LOL, did they just call a program on MSNBC "fact based"? That's adorable. MSNBC makes Fox News look impartial. Anyway, when the Republicans are in office, it always boosts ratings of the fringe left. Hell even Keith Olbermann managed to get some people to watch him when Bush was in office so it should come as no surprise that Maddow's numbers are doing better.
