I was actually a little disappointed. I loved the setting and was amped for some monster action, but it just wasn't as good as I was hoping. The soundtrack felt a bit lazy; all good songs that I've heard plenty of times in other war films. Think they were trying too hard and being too obvious to channel all the classic Vietnam era movies. The characters weren't all that memorable or likeable, except for John C Reilly. The monster action was fun and loved seeing the different species; wish we could have seen more. Ultimately for me, Godzilla was much better, but I'd like to give this another try.
Kong: Skull Island was solid but far from great. Had a very 90s type blockbuster feel to it. Monster action was good but there were way too many characters and all of them were terribly underwritten. It would have been a better flick if they cut the character count in half, John C. Reilly was really fun though. Not sure why they had Brie Larson running around in a "Tomb Raider" style bra...... Godzilla was a better film overall, looking forward to coming mash ups.....
Well by Tomb Raider style, I meant like the Jolie movies….it’s like crazy padded, wife pointed it out, because she’s not as busty as she looks in the movie.
Think she's got a really cute face, first time I saw her was in United States of Tara and always thought she was pretty attractive.
The movie looks like heavy CGI garbage to me. I have zero interest in seeing it. Yea...some big name actors in it with some really bad dialogue is what I imagine and nothing to them other than providing some comic relief. And, Bree running around wearing a three layered tank top or whatever. Crikey!
let me try to fap to her for your answer. if i don't come back to this thread in 10 mins then it's a great success!
Just got back from seeing it. Was freaking awesome! Loved it!!! Really great fun monster movie. Shot well. Great soundtrack.
I liked it, too. All the name actors do a nice job, and the no-names manage not to get in their way. John C. Reilly gets the best role. The giant monster fights are giant monster fights. If you're into CGI mayhem, you'll get it. There is some anti-war subtext to the whole thing, but it's largely brainless on the whole, as it should be. Looking forward to the rumble with Godzilla. P.S. Brie Larson is nice
I'll have to try your style of reviewing a movie: just IMAGINE that it is probably terrible! That'll save me a ton of $$ in movie tickets!! Thanks!
Saw it and loved it, beautiful scenery, very fun movie...L Jackson even said his Jurassic line:"hold on to your butt"...
Well I never. MOM!!!!!!????!!!!???? In my defense (after I quit sobbing here), it wasn't a review per se as much as an "I'm not interested because...". I made some assumptions. Primarily, just heavy use of CGI is not my cup of tea. I assumed corny dialogue. Yes...I don't go see movies I think I won't like. I may catch it on TV eventually and I may be pleasantly surprised. But, it will probably be too much for me and I'll die of a heart attack.
