Am I alone in thinking that Edward Norton just crushed that part? I thought the whole movie was amazing (the one-take feel and the drummer, wow!) and every performance was top notch (h/t to Emma Stone)... but man Ed Norton was just excellent, IMO.
He got nominated for a lot of awards for it, so you're not alone, but you are correct. He was my favorite part of that movie, and that's one of my favorite movies in years. Terrific stuff.
Alien v Predator Requiem Now this isn't for you if you're looking for something that is remotely close to something that will be nominated for film awards. Now if you're looking for some fighting between the characters of two of the great sci fi films of all time then this might be your movie. If you are interested in seeing some entertaining killing this also might be for you. Don't confuse this for the other Alien v Predator movie this is a lot better. ranking on an adjusted scale for movie type 8.5/10
Following, Christopher Nolan's first film. 7/10 Great character build up but felt like the climatic scene didnt justify the entire plot.
Hacksaw Ridge: 8/10 Really good movie, I get why they chose Garfield but I don't know, I feel like he never completely got into character. Vince Vaughn was surprisingly amazing. John Wick 2: 8/10 Badass movie, won't win awards. Great set up the next movie. Ring 3: 3/10 Sucks that it sucked this bad, I consider the first movie iconic. The acting was just painful
Hell or High Water: 8.7/10 Not sure how I just manage to just hear about this movie two weeks ago. It is very good. Possibly the best I've seen this year.
So many good quotes in this movie. I particularly like the Dr. Pepper dialogue. Didnt understand the casting of Chris Pine though, although he did pretty well in it.
This is Mr. Pibb. I asked for a Dr. Pepper. So? Only assholes drink Mr. Pibb. But my favorite line from that was when his partner says, "I'm part Comanche, you know what that means?" "It means 'enemy to eveyone'". What does that make you? I guess I'm a Comanche.
i watched the american version first before the japanese one. but it's probably the only scary movie that hollywood remade from an asian horror that is remotely good.
i dunno, i feel like whenever i watch the asian version first (i.e. the eye, grudge, etc.) they'll make the american remake seem like a joke, with their cheap jump scares. Whereas the originals genuinely messes you up psychologically. but i guess that goes for any remakes now... like the remake of poltergeist was a boring drama compared to the original.
Ju-on was no joke, Japanese people know how to **** you up. The last horror move that had a good remake was Dawn of the Dead.
GET OUT - 8.5/10 Really, really good. Excellent atmosphere and tension, beautifully shot and edited, and just a bracing satire. I loved it and so did my Mrs. SAUSAGE PARTY - 7.5/10 So dumb, so funny. So... Seth Rogen. It's totally like This Is The End, but starring cartoon food products. Great voice cast and that ending... holy hell that was hilarious. "Once you go Taco, you never go back-o!"
Get out - 9/10. Very original, probably more political than I originally thought. Great twist, even though you kinda already know what's gonna happen. Patriots Day - 8.5/10 Great film, story is solid from a made up person's view (Mark Wahlberg). Pretty solid casting to match real life counterparts. Lion - 8/10 Heart warming film about an Indian boy who gets lost on a train Thousand or so miles away. Ends up getting adopted, and many years later tries to find his family. Rings - 5/10 meh. John Wick 2 - 9/10 Excellent A Cure for Wellness - 7.5/10 Solid film, felt there were some holes in the film, and some things dragged on. A bit weird, but solid. Logan 9.5/10 OMG!!!! Inferno - 7.5/10 another film to go with Davinci code and Angels and Demons. good, not great.
Bridge of Spies: 8.6/10 Speilberg still has it. Love the contrast set up by the film right from the get go between doing the right human thing and doing for your country, and then watch them intermingle.
