They have 100 M in cap space. They just bought a 2nd round pick. Those are pretty valuable. Good trade for them IMO
Agreed. There's literally nothing to criticize Cleveland for on this deal. They paid money to move from a 4th to a 2nd.
Cleveland did a great job strengthening their position for the future here. Money means nothing to them right now since valuable free agents won't go there anyways. They need to build through the draft, and install a winning culture there.....then the free agents will come.
Go after Logan Ryan, hope KJ is healthy, move Kareem to safety. Demps is the typical NFL journeyman. We can replace him pretty easily. Bouye is not worth Jenoris Jenkins money. Go after Romo, draft OL then bpa @ S/LB then fill in gaps as needed.
What can the Texans do... a. Draft a DB in the 1st round. b. look for free agent OLinemen c. Trade for Romo
I wouldn't touch DB in the first round. Incredibly deep for CBs... You can get a solid one with a 4th round pick. I'd either take OL or Mahomes in round 1...if available.
I just don't see the necessity to spend a first on a position that is not a need...rather, a luxury. The trio of Joseph, Kareem, and KJ is well above average. You can get someone in the 4th round of this draft that would normally be a 2nd rounder, as far as CBs are concerned. My preference is to use the first round pick on someone that will elevate the team more significantly than a CB getting added to an already strong group. I'd rather take OL or LB or QB (I know chances are that Mahomes is gone, but still... If we're talking about Jackson dropping, then Mahomes could drop to us in the same scenario).
My guess is that the only real option is Romo. Cousins likely staying put and the Browns have a bunch or picks to offer the Patriots for Jimmy. Having said that, I'd gladly take any of the three.
