You can't say that without seeing how it eventually plays out. If he's healthy and the Texans are a formidable playoff team, you'll think differently. I don't think, if the Broncos are truly interested, that he'll choose the Texans over Denver. Dealing a pick to secure the guy you want... makes sense.
Du swearinger....Xavier suafilo..... Nick Martin has never played a down. McKinney is a limited LB. Ben Tate had one year. Reed and barwin play for other squads now. Not exactly a kings ransom there. Idk what point about patriots or haynesworth you're making but maybe steer clear of that? My complaint is way deeper than free agency.
I hate this narrative. Johnson wasn't wasted on the Texans. Schaub had a very good 3-4 year prime. He led the league in passing on '09. I would KILL for a prime Schaub on this team. Also this trade should be named "Broxit".
I'd take a prime Schaub, but I'm talking about Johnsons whole career here with regards to more than getting in playoffs or out of 1st round. I mean if houston could have gotten Manning a few years back it could have been interesting.
That 4th round pick is, what? 97th? That has tremendous value. As does the $10MM in cap space they allocated. The Texans are in win-now mode; picks mean less to them as they try and capitalize on Watt's window (which may already be closing).
Reed and Barwin were productive here. Doesn't matter that they went to a different team. Ben Tate was a good pick so is McKinney (earned all pro) status. Never said it was a king's ransom. My statement was that "it is not like he hasn't made any good picks". I brought up Haynesworth in response to your statement about making an expensive gamble in free agency. Good teams do it too. Bad teams do it too and shackle themselves to it for multiple seasons trying to justify themselves. You might have beef with Rick Smith or whatever. But I think, based on what we know now, this was a good deal.
It's not even a 2nd round pick this year. They can still come out of this draft with a top 5 QB prospect and a top 5 OL prospect.
No way the Texans saw this coming........ if they thought they had ANY chance of dealing Osweiler, they would have thrown more money at A.J. They must be floored over on Kirby.
I'm just gonna stop your asinine, weakass strawman argument right now. Desperately grasping at straws talking about a NFL All-Pro in only his second year.
Now we just sign Romo and draft Mahomes. Romo will be above average, but the best QB in franchise history for 8 games, break his hip, and then Mahomes will come in after learning the offense and be our Touchdown Jesus.
