oh well, don't look like we can afford him. Likely our max offer is around 10 mil range and no way he's taking a hometown discount.
I don't disagree with you. I would add that there will be weaknesses on the roster regardless. Also having Watt back should help cover for some of the issues in the secondary. I wouldn't resign Bouye at the numbers being discussed.
Upside as in AJ Bouye was just better than anyone thinks Kevin Johnson can be. Where they were drafted has zero to do with upside once the games have been played.
I understand not signing Bouye if you are indeed able to get Romo. But to not sign Bouye AND to not get Romo would be devastating. Offseason would still be salvageable but would be a terrible way to start.
They don't hand out trophies for the offseason. Plus there's still time to make moves. If they can lock up Hopkins, draft well, and keep enough cap room for next offseason. Brees, Cousin, Stafford, Carr, and Garappolo are all free agents in 2018; though some of those will probably be locked up before they become free agents.
It's not like they didn't try. We all knew dude was going to get paid and most likely by some other team with more cap space. I'm not sure why people are so shocked.
