Charles Robinson of Yahoo. Reporting that Broncos are lukewarm and Texans don't appear to in it at all.
This is my personal opinion on the Romo situation. If you go out and sign Romo you are proving that you care first and foremost about bringing a championship to Houston. With Romo you legitimately have the potential to win the SB. I get that he's fragile and that back injuries are serious, but I think it's worth the risk considering the fact that Romo (ideally) won't be getting a contract exceeding 2 years and maybe $10 mil a year. It's one thing if you simply get outbid by another team like the Broncos, but if you intentionally pass on him you are telling your entire fanbase that you ultimately don't care first and foremost about winning a championship. At that point, even if you draft a guy like Mahomes in the first round, you are stuck with another full season of Savage or Brock as your QB. And with either of those guys at QB, and the Titans rise to prominence that should be sped up by some big FA signings, I'm not even confident we would win the division next year. So I don't really understand the thinking behind not being interested in Romo at all. Even if you sign him you could still draft Mahomes if you want to groom him for a couple years. Anyways, those are my thoughts. Interested to hear y'alls thoughts.
I honestly understand both arguments on Romo. He's basically a lottery ticket. There is no reason to think he stays healthy next year, so what you hope for is that whatever injury he gets is a two week type thing and he's healthy for the playoffs. If so, yes, he can get you to the dance if he can run this offense and father time doesn't come due this year. The flipside is that he's very likely to just get hurt and do nothing for you.
Schefter: Is it really Denver & Houston or other possibilities? Other possibilities as well. They're 2 primary landing spots but don't be surprised when he takes visits to other places not named Denver & Houston.
Our track record with aging vets isnt the shiniest... Big Vince has been serviceable but nothing that couldnt be replaced. Ed Reed comes to mind. Ahman Green comes to mind. Barf. Houston: Where Stars come to die.
Fitzpatrick and Hoyer both completely outplayed Brock in their first years in the system. Also, Brock struggled with accurate passes more often than be struggled with anything system related. He's dead wrong on this issue.
Interesting that out here in Denver..they are REAL confident that Elway will be able to talk Romo into signing with the Broncos.... I sincerely hope that they do indeed get Romo. He would be more waste of resources, time, etc. for the Texans... If they cant get Jimmy (tho they should try hard), they should try for McCarron maybe? Or just draft... A slightly above average, competent QB and a couple O-line is all the Texans need!! They have everything else. But PLEASE GOD....do NOT SIGN ROMO!
Brees is available...we stick with David Carr Manning is available...we stick with Schaub Derek Carr is available...we don't want to upset the season ticket holders Tony Romo is available...are we really gonna just go with Ossweiler? This franchise is frustrating
