I don't think people realize how big of loss this is losing bouye.

Defense was great last year but they didn't have a good pass rush. The secondary is the reason why the Texans were so good defensively and Bouye was our best CB.

I could see Texans defense taking huge steps back next season- Joseph is old, Kareem now has to go up against #1 WR, Kevin Johnson is injury prone, JJ Watts back, new unproven DC running the defense.

Too bad. If only there was some other big name free agent the Texans could use the money they were going to spend on Bouye to sign ; )

Just another example of the ineptness of this organization if Bouye ends up walking.

If Bouye leaves that would suck but I'll wait to see what other moves are made before judging how right or wrong it was to let him leave.

The Texans never fail to impress with their ineptitude on how to run a franchise. Dude will sign with the Titans or Colts because McNair and Co. are clueless and cheap asses. Feel bad for you Texans fans. Embarrassment of a franchise.

Ask Brady and Connor Cook about Texans not having a pass rush. And if they didn't, they will with healthier bodies coming back.

I like Bouye but let us be real about him. He wasn't always guarding the best WRs. Romeo still trusted Joseph when healthy. Bouye has always been undisciplined and it wasn't as bad last year but he could be led into PI and illegal use of hands. And the most important reason I'm not losing sleep if he leaves is that you do not overpay a player after one good year. You all are the same who will be calling for Rick Smiths head if Bouye is getting paid 13 mil but playing like a 3 mil player. The 2nd most important reason is that this is a good draft for DBs. A good one able to start part time could be found in the 1st 3 rounds.

I would love to see Bouye back. I feel like we watched him grow up. But he should get his money and not worry about the hometown discount. This might be his first and last big contract.

I really wanted AJ back but if he leaves it's oh well for me. The guy played one year and performed well he bet on himself and now will get paid. We have a lot of money tied up in the defense right now and will have to pay up again soon. So paying AJ top dollar kind of scared me.

The Texans CB's are ALWAYS injured. You need at LEAST 3 good CB's. Johnson is average at best and injury plagued. Joseph is old and injury prone. Kareem Jackson, lulz. Should have franchised him to see if he continued to improve. Just letting him go is moronic. Draft, blah blah. This is just ****ing dumb, but it's to be expected with this club.

We could get a 3rd round comp for him next year, with that money we can go after a FA OT, extend Hopkins, etc. This draft class is deep on CBs; I trust our defensive staff to develop him and make him really good. He's not a big loss

I can understand letting him go if its to make way for Tony's contract. It also seems like another team is paying way more than what the Texans are willing to.

Texans are the team that finds the AJ Bouye's not the ones that pay the max to keep him.

How Lance described this with the rules in place, especially if Romo is signed, this could turn into a 6th round comp pick.

There are a lot of issues with this staff and their ability to gauge talent... Defense is not one of them. I trust them to replace Bouye and like I have seen on here multiple times.. Its better to be the team that finds the talent than the team that pays them. Bouye will be like RG3 after his breakout year, everyone knows his weakness (50/50 balls = PI calls) and he will regress while making 13+ mil. I'd say let him walk, get OT/QB with the money, and draft in a very deep DB class.

Gilmore to Pats for $14M. I'm guessing Bouye is getting north of that?

Dont fret over Bouye. Jags loading up defensively. We need Romo. A healthy and productive kevin johnson makes you forget about aj bouye.
