They have about 23.5 million dollars in space right now. Cutting Newton, Clark, and Bergstrom adds up to about 8.6 million dollars in savings so that brings you to around 32 million in space. Then you have players like Brown, Joseph, Kareem, and Cushing who you could extend plus lower the cap hit this year or you could cut. Joseph and Brown have no guaranteed money left on their deals and count 6.9 million and 9.65 million against the cap respectively. Cushing counts 9.3 million against the cap and has 4.2 million worth of dead money. Kareem has a 9 million cap hit with 4.5 million in dead money. They can keep Bouye if they really want to keep him. It depends on what they think his value is. They're supposedly at over 12 million per year now in their offer. Will they go higher? We'll see.
Would love to keep him however there are some teams out there who have major $ to throw around. It looks like it could go over 15 mil, and if that's the case I don't see the Texans locking him up. I guess we'll see how it plays out.
Sign and trade Bouye and Brock to Chicago for Cutler. Draft another CB in an apparently deep CB draft. Okay resident nfl capologists, tell me if this is actually possible or not?
Reporters gotta love this "legal tampering" period. They can "report" whatever they want and fans will run off with it.
Texans will contour Bouye's best deal with 2-3mil/yr less and push Texas no income tax and his already being familiar with the system, team, and city.
