Our team when switched on is extremely effective. No other team can come close to us. And we sometimes do end up breaking out of our shells and display an explosive performance. A prime example is Harden's 54/17/16. However when Harden is not having a stat-stuffing game, we are like a D-league team. This season there has never been another game where another player has taken over and lead our team to a victory. If James can't get a basket then we are powerless to do anything. We can't score, we can't get a rebound, our role players just run around like a Corey Brewer, and we don't have a big man where we can count on to get a basket, even against a mismatch. This means we'll win some when we get hot and lose some when the 3's aren't going down. Hardly a recipe for sustained success.
So to sum up 1. The Rockets perform well in some nights and not so well in other nights. 2. The Rockets have trouble when its superstar/MVP candidate is not doing well. 3. The Rockets will win more when the shots are falling and lose more when they don't. In other words, the Rockets seem to be playing the game of basketball.
[Realism] - Our fans are bipolar. Rockets Win - Harden schooled XXX. Harden is the definite MVP. Rockets are real contenders. I don't fear any team in the playoffs, Bring them on. Rockets Lose - Harden was lazy. This is why Kawhi is the deserving MVP. Rockets are not there yet. Rockets are pretenders. One and out. Regular season only team.
You obviously don't understand my post. Some teams such as the Spurs, you know they will find a way to win no matter if they have a player going off for a massive night or not. We have no other way to win other than James Harden going off. The Cavs, Spurs, Warriors, even the Jazz, you know they can beat you even if they are shooting a bad percentage. They can defend, rebound, go in the post, and grind out a win. We don't.
Well that may be the current of fan sentiment around here, but that certainly hasn't been my opinion. My opinion has always been that is this team is lacking and even our wins seem precariously fortuitous. But obviously you can't say anything bad about the Rockets here then you are accused of being a pessimist and a complainer. We can only start posts proclaiming just how amazing Harden is and how we are looking forward to meeting the Warriors in the WCF
I think this team has won several games at the 1st half of season where we shooted very poorly. The team has shown heart. If you mean we're too dependent on our best player or on the 3's... of course we are. Rockets room for improvment in the long term is on defensive solidness and offensive variety. You can have the same 3s and layups philosophy but you can do a much better job at moving the defense, playing off the ball, get more penetrations from different players... Just too many happy 3s you can't rely on.
Well yeah. The Spurs can indeed do that. If only the Rockets actually bothered to get help for James Harden by going after someone like LaMarcus Aldridge and we'd be a better team... Why doesn't Morey do this? Clearly not smart enough and needs to be fired.
This team is too reliant on shooting a high percentage from 3 in order to win, and for a team with a bunch of supposed shooters, they sure do go completely cold all at the same time pretty often.
Thats the definition of variance and outlier potential. Anderson is coming back and we still need to chill. Clutchfans needs to breathe
Playoffs will be the same as season. Hot we win, cold we lose. #outlier #variance We arent as bad as we look when we lose or as good as we look when we win. Seasons not over
