I'm going to say that had Lou been on the team the whole season, MDA might not have started Dekker before. So, maybe this isn't commentary on recent play of Dekker, but rather just MDA has two choices.... 1) start his 3-guard lineup, which gives the best players more minutes and allows the "rookie" to stay in his customary role, or 2) start Dekker, with him and Ariza playing higher minutes while keeping the guards at customary minutes.
That's true, though he did have the opportunity earlier in the year and id choose to start Dekker. I think he's fallen in love with the 3 guard lineup a little too much... but a lot of that is due to Dekker's diminished play and lack of other options. If the Rockets going forward are going to need 3 three point shooters around Harden plus a center... well seems like they need another stretch 4 or combo 3/4. Also, I think MDA needs to be just a little more aware of what's happening in a given game as far as his lineups. I mean the three guard lineup has the chance of working amazingly every time. But against the Spurs, Williams couldn't shoot for crap, and Gordon wasn't exactly hot either. Anderson was off, Ariza was way off from three, etc. I know they simply don't know how to play with two "bigs" inside... but I think they should learn, because I frankly think Capela/Trez CAN work for 10 minutes a game and would be the type of combo needed in certain situations.
I agree! I don't know why he won't play Capela or Nene with Trez. I'd rather see them work on that then to continue to use 3 guards. I'd rather see our guards relieve each other, so they are full of energy and can run the court.
