BTG, just out of curiosity... What is your perfect FA/first 2 rounds of the draft look like? Who would you keep, who would you let go, and who would you go out and get, then who would you draft? In my mind it is more sensible to address RT in FA because much like the QBs in this draft class, the OTs are pretty weak as well. Would like to know where you would go with all this, no restrictions, just make it plausible.
I posted in the other thread but I'll post here as well since it's hypothetical. Can we sign and trade Bouye and Brock to Chicago for Cutler? Also draft a CB in a deep CB draft. Looks like a WIN-WIN for all parties. Bouye gets paid, Cutler and Brock gets a fresh starts, teams fill needs while removing problems. I need the expert capoligists to give me hope or shoot me down!
Granted Bouye and his agent would have to do us a solid but make it appear that Bouye is off the market.
Cutler has $62M left on his contract through 2020, no reason for the Texans to take that on when there is a chance you might be able to sign him for A LOT less. Plus, bonuses can't be transferred to a new team so it would have to be a bonus free contract, meaning his base salary would likely be astronomical.
That must be non-guaranteed because if it were the cap hit would be massive. Make us cutting Brock now look like a great idea in comparison. -edit- just found out his contract is very trade friendly now, no guaranteed money left. http://www.espn.com/blog/chicago-bears/post/_/id/4704944/jay-cutlers-contract-no-longer-trade-killer but that just makes it less likely because bears really don't need a trade partner. I was just hoping for a creative way to get rid of Brock's last guaranteed year. Maybe Boyue is the wrong guy here. Maybe we should trade Kevin Johnson and Brock for Cutler. We sign Boyue and draft another CB in a deep draft.
What an idiot. If you're going to be bold, don't get a tattoo that your team will win it's division. He obviously doesn't have confidence in his team or else he'd have replace AFC South with Super Bowl.
Correct it is non-guaranteed. But it is only trade friendly in that if he fails, it's not a big deal. But if you want to keep him around, it is going to cost us a lot more than it likely would if we waited to sign him.
So I'll re-configure with better options... Can we trade any surplus value along with Brock to any team for any piece? If yes, what is our surplus value piece and what do we get back? If no, then Brock is a Texan for another year and **** Rick Smith.
No team will have any interest in trading for Brock under any circumstance if you are hoping to get something back. He's either here or he's cut.
