That's what people need to realize, the Republicans are every bit as bad as they make the Democrats out to be. The good news is that the Republicans plan will fail just like Obamacare did so there's no way it'll be around that long. The bad news is that the Democrats who will be in power by then will almost certainly replace it with something MUCH worse that will run entirely off government funds so that it can't outright fail....it'll just help bankrupt the country.
I did not vote for him, but enough people in this country did vote for him, that is why he is the president today. We live in a country of laws and rules, at least we are at the moment, we have to accept the outcome of this election even if we do not like it. If we want to do something, come out in 2018 and vote out the GOP congress. If we cannot do that in two years, then it clearly shows where this country is at this moment in history, which shows we are lead by a racist xenophobe.
Except that the 2018 election is also structured to favor racist xenophobia, and it really isnt the fault of anybody currently alive, arguably. Further the racist xenophobes continue have the ability to rig the game in their favor. This is the thing that needs to be recognized and socialized. Not "oh well we get what we deserve". **** that. Nobody, black, white or anything else, deserves a lying racist sack of crap like T Beauregard Sessions III, who could not even get into office without voluntarily commuting perjury beforehand, pissing on Dr. King or Abe Lincoln by undercutting the laws they died for. And that's just onenough example. That is not what we are about. And pretending like we are, because that's the way it is now, is more hurtful than helpful.
When the number of people who will lose insurance under this plan (Estimated) comes out and if Republicans ram this thru, they have signed their death warrant. I expect the number to be around 15-20 million people.
Agreed, the much better plan is to let Obamacare operate as intended so that 100% of them can lose their insurance when the system collapses. Switching to a plan that would make it hard for some is an awful idea, allowing things to become hard for everyone due to completely moronic legislation is the "fair" way of doing it.
I'm in Australia at the moment and I can't help but admire the way they do elections. Not only is voting mandatory but they do instant runoff voting on federal and state elections. No 3rd party spoilers or candidates winning with less than 50% of the vote. Also no voter suppression here since everything has mandatory voting.
It's their red headed stepchild. It might be half theirs but they sure as hell ain't gonna feed it, fix it or own it.
It's weird that after years of posting on this topic, you still don't seem to understand the very basics of insurance, how it works, what will cause it to collapse, etc. Seems like your time would be much better spent reading and learning than posting your ignorance over and over again.
If all companies pull out of the marketplace, it collapses. Would you agree with that? Is that not what is happening? I get the desire to re-write history and suggest that Obamacare isn't a really stupid piece of legislation that is already failing, but eventually reality comes into play.
Paul Ryan speaks to the Trump-republican healthcare plan objectives... Asked About Millions Losing Care, Ryan Says ‘Lowering Costs’ Is What Matters https://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/ryan-lowering-costs-is-what-matters
To be fair, that is just as much as the leftist mentality. Did you already forget "we have to pass it to know whats in it" comment? Trumpcare and Obamacare both contain the same fundamental flaws of our healthcare system and they both are unsustainable. First and foremost we have to overhaul how we approach medicine and treatment in general, not play some ignorant shell game on who is paying the outrageous medical fees from insurance companies, hospitals, and pharmaceuticals...which is exactly what Obamacare did. It didnt cut costs. I didnt provide better coverage and service.
Basically its a big taxcut for the top .1%ers. I am guessing no one on this board is in that bracket. Most people probably aren't even in the 1%. Majority of people probably get their insurance from work so it doesn't effect them, but this plan is just a big tax cut and nothing to do with choice or lower prices etc.
Got to luv the conservos. The solution is health savings accounts so that those making $15/ hr (if lucky) can sock away lots of money and save on their taxes and then use this money to take care of all their health expenses.. Having insurance companies cross state lines will lower costs to near nil which will then Empower them to make the Choice of which of many hospitals.medical professionals and even health food stores and gyms to go to maintain their ideal diet, weight, blood pressure and sugar..Even more Personal Responsibility can be exercised as they forego buying smart phones, because what on earth do they do with those beside irresponsibly play games on them. Oh, I forgot give more tax breaks to healthcare execs to incentivize them to their creativity and spur them to work even harder. Voila, health care soved.
It appears both ACA and the republican version of ACA focus on ensuring that more if not all people can access health care. That in itself seems a good thing. Why can't a separate approach to reducing costs and increasing supply happen afterwards?
You appear to just have just latched onto typical rightist talking about points here, without any having any idea of the context of the quote and what it was talking about it. Either that, or you're more interested in a partisan attack than legitimate criticism. Hint: there's nothing wrong with the quote in the context it was used in.
No one wants to reduce cost because it will anger the medical/insurance industry. Where do you think all the cost go? It went into paying the medical professionals, the hospitals, insurance companies and drug manufactures, cutting cost would be taking money away from these groups. Band aids will be applied again and again until the system is about to fall apart totally, then single payer system. Imagine a country with 50%+ of GDP in healthcare and defense, that is where we are headed for.
