Jay Cutler, welcome to Houston. McClain says he doesn't see him as a fit here, that means we'll sign him soon. Just like when he said there was an 80% chance we'd get Bouye back.

We have a philosophical disagreement then. The Texans have never had a franchise QB and I think Mahomes can become one. The current season is why I go with a FA vet like Cutler/Romo, have Savage as the backup and groom Mahomes. I'm hedging my bets.

How I fix the OL is by signing Wagner to a 5 yr 42.5 mil contract, drafting Dawkins in the 2nd and drafting a CB in this deep CB draft. My thoughts are that the front 7 make the secondary look much better than they are and K.Jo is coming back.

Schaub was a franchise QB when he was here, he just got hurt and it pretty much ended his career. That said, my homie is a project, not terribly unlike Savage was. The best thing he's got going is that this is an absolutely awful QB class so despite there being pretty much no chance that he'd be ready to play his first season, he might still be a first round pick.....hell he could even be an early first round pick given his garbage competition.

In a good QB class, he'd find himself in the 3-5 round area because the kid can't run a pro style offense and is going to take at least one year and potentially even longer to coach up to where he can be put on the field. Other red flags are his decision making which can be poor and his footwork which needs work....but could be partially due to simply not knowing how to be a pro style QB taking 3 and 5 step drops. When it comes to the decision making, he's a gunslinger so he could be a Brett Favre if you dare to dream or he could be a Rex Grossman. The point is, when you draft my homie, you're buying a lottery ticket that you won't even get to find out if you won or not for at least a year, probably several years.

On top of that, if the Texans draft a QB and bring in a Vet, Savage is a goner. There's no 2 ways about that. Dreaming about Savage still being around with Romo or whatever and my homie is setting yourself up for failure.

Schaub was a top 15 QB and a top 10 QB in 2009. If you consider a top 15 QB a franchise QB the OK. Schaub's best yr was good but not Brady/Brees/Rodgers/Manning or even Wilson good.

We have a differing opinion on Mahomes and neither one of us is going to change our minds. BTW, I see Mahomes as a Russell Wilson, a 3rd d pick.

One thing I think we can agree o is that the Texans QB play bar has been set very low. It's like the fanbase has been conditioned to the point that they don't know good QB play from bad.

We really need to see some improvements with Fuller.

Hopefully Martin (?) is a stud. Losing our 2016 2nd rounder was big for this OL.

It seems a bit inconsistent given that Schaub has led the league in passing.....Wilson never will. Unfortunately Schaub's time as a top tier QB was short lived but he was a top tier QB until he got hurt.

Anyway, that doesn't really matter, I think you are right when it comes to you thinking my homie being the next great NFL QB and me not even being certain that he'll ever be an NFL starter. What it comes down to it, things like that are just "faith" based for the most part, so we'll never see eye to eye.

I would love to sign Wagner too but it is funny that you are SO against using a 1st round pick on a RT but you're willing to make another team's 5th round pick the highest paid RT in the league.

Anything in order to get my homie the savior. It's the kind of draft crush that happens every year.

I hope they didn't guarantee Novak's deal because I think he's about to lose the job in camp.

Novak was great this year, and like I said at the time, the kickoff rule changing negated a lot of his downside.

But is he going to be as good as the guy they put on IR?

I would bet not. That said, so long as the deal isn't really guaranteed then it doesn't hurt to keep him on for the camp competition. I think Ka'iminoeauloameka'ikeokekumupa'a Fairbairn is going to destroy him though.

Cushing has a 9.3mm cap hit this season? Yeesh. One of my favorite all time Texans, wonder if he can work anything out to stay here and keep AJ.

He's a perfect candidate for a new contract....but I don't think the Texans could realistically cut him if he didn't play ball. They just don't have the depth to do so.

They could after the draft depending on what happens. He can't cover anymore and doesn't play nearly the same amount of snaps. If he won't play ball and the Texans get a RT in free agency, could easily see them using a top 2 pick on a LB and that would make Cushing easy to cut.

Honestly you could probably replace his production on the free agency market for less money, but not his leadership. He should redo his deal.

Yeah, the leadership is pretty hard to replace. It's weird, they just seem to play better with him out there even though it's true he can't cover anything anymore.

Maybe Mahomes will never be great, butI think he's got a chance to be Wilson good and that's pretty good for pick #25.

This franchise chose Fat Randy over Boswell. Do we really believe Fairbairn has a shot?
