Hello, I have been wondering what everyone here thinks of the portrayal of the current Rockets teams and the historic rosters on 2k17. I had a lot of trouble with how they undervalued Hakeem's stats last year and have decided to forgo buying future editions until this is fixed. However, better game play from the current roster and an accurate portrayal of Harden's stats could be a motivator to buy it. Yes, I am a homer, so my decision is largely based around how much domination I will get out of the Rockets and if it's realistic enough. For example, they made Hakeem extremely slow last year. Especially his lateral quickness. They also gave him a very low shot rating. If this is still a problem, I can't see myself enjoying the game. Also what do you all think of the online modes? Improved or the same? Or worse?
What were the ratings? I assume they try to calibrate it so that the players achieve the right statistical numbers during computer simulation. What does "shot rating" mean, and how does his compare to other bigs?
Right, hakeem was fun to play with (when it somewhat worked) but they misrepresented his quickness/footwork/shooting it was a joke sometimes, I'd have perfect release even juked defender and miss at/close to the freaking rim!! Especially for his 94 season, he was unstoppable and you're telling me he's going to miss that shot, bullshit... I mean I know he could miss but I'm talking like just stupid ****. I am thinking it had to do with trying for realistic simulation or something, but whatever, I mean apparently they got better with Curry so why not do it for the Dream. I used to play a ton and was ranked decently online (haha dating myself here, but probably 2008-10 ranked in the top 100 at one point), but like you, I'm wondering the same things and also if the online modes work better. I played through 2k15 and skipped 16 and 17. Unfortunately don't have the time like I used to. On 14 and 15 I got max players in mycareer not paying or whatever (that's another silly thing... The micro transactions to build your rpg/barbie character). Fortunately playing was an option for the currency which is the only way I'd do it, this isn't some free to play bs, I don't need to be price gouged so I'm glad you could just play and get your character better. I'd always play PG too, frustrating watching computer characters do silly things sometimes.. And also I only play w/ the Rockets even if it's a bad season. And in career mode practically screw up or demand trade to play for the Rockets, hahah. But anyway I'm definitely interested in it.. But been holding off.
I played with Hakeem IRL so I don't need to step into the video game era to replicate that ****. All I can say is that he was the greatest center I ahve ever played with or watched live
The post game doesn't allow for as many unique moves to be honest. Online as a C you are pretty limited to catch and dunk.
WTF? You played with Hakeem? Everyone on here knows that's thread worthy. Why was that not a thread? Lemme guess...
They were low. I don't have the thread link but I broke this down ten times over last year. I even spoke with 2k via email about this and they basically nerfed him so he isn't op. Ie size with quickness and a shot. But here is the thing... Hakeem is Op. They nerfed him deliberately. He didn't have a maxed block... Despite being the best blocker. He didn't have any quickness... Which is false. His shot was around 70-75 which is not enough for someone who consistently could hit a fader.
