Makes sense. Probably why he's in the league as a power forward despite his height. Maybe it's his hands? I don't know. Something doesn't pass the eye test to me. Thanks for dropping knowledge on me.
Forgone conclusion? That's a trash statement. Capela is 22 years old!!!!! and keeps getting better. Signing a vet that takes his minutes away hurts his development. This is about the 2 year window after this year. His production and cheap contract allows the Rox to go after a mid tier free agents.
I just think the problem is that Harrell fell in love with offense soon after he had a breakout scoring game, and now seems less focused on rebounding, defense, and boxing out. Last year he was barely involved in the offense and he focused his energy on defense. This year he just seems to drift, only occasionally trying to block shots, but rarely helps on the weakside and usually getting beat by the other team's big in the paint. Harrell is someone you can say plays much smaller than he is, despite the longish arms. Evenly offensively, Harrell needs to develop a consistently midrange jumper (see Nene). It seems hard to play him nowadays... MDA has resorted to playing smaller with Harden playing PF. Unless Harrell steps it up, he is gone next year.
Here's what i see - Capela is getting "in the neighborhood" to make blocks and rebounds, he's just a step slow. Maybe it's the injury - i wouldn't discount it. But i'd also say it's mental - he's in the middle of his 2nd full season and still adjusting. He's a project and these guys take years and years of development. Guys like Embiid and Noel came in with great instincts from Day 1 but Clint is still learning. He's getting his body in good spots and hopefully, by the playoffs, the game will slow down a bit more and he can start swatting and rebounding like we need him to. But like you say, absolutely no guarantee this happens this year, if ever.
How many more rebounds do you guys want Clint to average, how many more blocks? 12 rebounds and 2 blocks per36 not enough?
With Nene recent play, pass on Larry Sanders. We don't want Cavs' leftover and he could be a potential team killer with his past history.
What if Nene or Clint go down, heaven forbid? Need a contingency at end of bench especially with a spot, or two, available. And the past history stuff is so overrated in Sanders case. He's hungry, starved even, to prove he can still play at elite level. There are zero bigs on the team with Triple Double production, never mind potential. Again, he would be a back up, and still only 28.
We're trying to win it all this year. Getting an upgrade in the middle isn't going to kill whatever development CC can make.
At this point we don't know if Sanders is any better than Thabeet, Haddadi, Bhullar, or any of the other reject centers who can't make it on a roster. You should see if he's worth a contract first and then maybe give him one. It shouldn't be the other way around.
We're always trying to win it all, this roster is built to compete for the next 2 years after this season. Besides Bogut, nobody on the market moves the needle more than the possibility of Capela getting better. Stamina is Capela's biggest issue. He's a step slow in the second half of games. He can only get better with more playing time.
This reminds me of myself when I played a lot of halo 3 lone wolves playlist. 25 and 0 was the goal every night
It may have been posted and I missed it, if so excuse me....but has Sanders actually done a workout with the Rockets? If not, how do we even know he's worth taking a chance on?. Just asking
there hasn't been anything that actually shows the rockets did a workout with Sanders. He apparently had a workout where some reps from NBA teams attended. Nobody here knows if he's worth taking a risk on and he absolutely is a risk with the given and documented history. People are just guessing and giving their own opinion on why or why shouldn't the rockets sign Sanders. interesting that his agent tried to put out at the beginning of February, alot of teams showing interest and a team offered a spot to Sanders and that it should be done by all star break. Looks like that went nowhere
Stromile and Cato did not only show it for one workout but a whole summer league. The issue with those players was that thing above their shoulders. That was the question for Sanders when he was playing and still is.
