Within the Cavs' locker room, you can hear holes being poked in some of the other MVP candidates' campaigns. Whispers of how Russell Westbrook might have 23 more triple-doubles than James this season, but James' Cavs have six more wins than the Thunder. How James Harden's numbers, while fantastic, are largely tied to new coach Mike D'Antoni's system, which already netted Steve Nash two MVPs with the Phoenix Suns, that some close to James would argue haven't aged so well in the eyes of basketball history. How Kevin Durant is not getting nearly the same scrutiny for joining the Warriors as James did for joining the Heat in 2010.

Ha, that's cute. "Only looks good because of Mike D'Antoni!"

And I guess the 29-8-6 & 27-7-6 two years prior were aided by Kevin McHale's "system", right?!

Speaking of "systems", better eliminate Kawhi Leonard also!

"Within the Cavs locker room, you can hear whining that Lebron's reputation alone isn't gift-wrapping him the MVP"

Lebron should pull a Sessions and recuse himself from MVP consideration for taking games off.

Lebron's team has 2 other all stars on it and has guys like Deron Williams and Kyle Korver coming off the bench...his roster is stacked. Harden is the only star on his team, yet the Rockets and Cavs have similar records.

Harden also didn't publicly demand that Morey get him some help. In fact, he said the opposite. He did reportedly campaign behind the scenes to get Lou Williams, but he kept it private.

It's crazy how Westbrook's style of play used to be heavily criticized and was seen as a major factor for why Durant left, and now it's being celebrated.

WTF? What an absolute petulant child he is, "they don't talk bad about Kevin like they talked about me". Lebron shut the **** up. He's been a whiny little b**** boy all season long and I for one am over it. As for the case about the mvp, Lebron takes games off, case closed.

I just want to point out that the Cavs are too focused as an organization on Lebron's pursuit of the MVP and it is costing them games.

The Cavs had 1 of the highest payrolls in the league, and it wasn't enough for Lebron. Now his team is even more loaded due to the additions of Deron Williams and Bogut. For Harden to have his team on par with the Cavs record wise is just another reason why he should be MVP. I'm sorry, but this roster should not be 3rd in the West and a top 5 team in the NBA. This team should be fighting to make the playoffs as a 6th or 7th seed, they have greatly overachieved this season.

I like Lebron and recognize him as one of the greatest players ever, but it should forever be on his record that despite having two hall of famers on his team, a ton of other guys that he handpicked and publicly campaigned to get them paid top dollar and having the highest payroll in the NBA, he still publicly criticized his front office in an expletive laced tirade for not doing enough to help him. Coming off a championship year. He can walk that back as much as he wants, but that poop stinks.

What do you think about this aspect? Rockets have a very strong case for 6th Man (Gordon...or LouWill) and COY (D'Antoni).

Do you think media voters will look at those and hold that against Harden in MVP balloting?

It's stupid to say that having a good coach is a negative towards anyone's MVP campaign. So Jordan's MVPs with Phil Jackson, or Duncan with Pop, or Curry with Kerr should all be undervalued??

I love how that article also threw shade at Steve Nash saying his MVPs haven't "aged well."

I'm sure it will be one of many excuses that get used to explain why Harden didn't win MVP at the end of the season.

Yeah, like how much help do u need? With the way this dude had been crying to the media, you'd swear he was AD on the Pelicans or something. Lebron has been a part of 2 different Big Threes. He always has a ton of help. Harden on the other hand has been a part of a Big 2 with a declining Dwight for a few years in Houston and that's it. When Harden was a part of Big 3 back when he was much younger and not nearly the player he is now, he managed to make it to the finals. If anybody should be pressuring their FO for more help, it's him. He's an MVP caliber player that's currently playing with no other all star or potential all star. I wish he had Lebron's "problems."

Maybe we should start losing games so that Pringles can't win COY...It's a bold strategy

Nash's MVPs are like a old bottle of wine someone left in the cellar...didn't age well...what a shame
