It's not the same because Pence is a Republican and Clinton is a Democrat, don't you see?

Interesting. I know many here were livid at Hillary's careless use of a private server even though there is no proof her's was hacked. Sadly we know that Pence's was hacked. I'm going to wait for the non-hypocritical conservatives here to come out and bring this up over and over again and go on about how careless it is, and maybe even start some "Lock him up!" chants about Pence. This will be great.

Like I always say, conservatives are far more hypocritical than the liberals.

LOL, that's cool of you Astrodome.

I don't actually think "lock him up," at all. But I think everyone should get off their high horse and we should establish broadly distributed security best practices for those in state and federal government. How hard could that be?

Also though, an AOL account? LOL. And I thought I was old.

While the silence from the "Lock her up!" crowd will be deafening, this strikes at one of my larger fears regarding government today: the people in charge of laws and decisions are, by and large, not "of" the Internet age. When I say that, I mean that some of the most powerful people in our country grew up without the Internet and, although acknowledge its importance, are illiterate when it comes to tech.

There were reports that Hillary Clinton's continued use of her Blackberry was due to her total ignorance of other tech. Vice President Pence used an AOL email account for sensitive information. Lamar Smith, author of SOPA, is 69 and decidedly not informed on the nuts and bolts of the most vital mechanism for economic development in history. Much of the Supreme Court is too old to be technologically deft. But, this generation of Boomers is still making decisions regarding tech, while using it unconfidently, at the highest levels.

Yall make fun of AOL but dialing up actually deters many hackers due to impatience.

Governor of Indiana is now equivalent to United States Secretary of State of the United States of America and a State issue is the same as a Federal issue apparently. You guys are so smart, I can't figure out how you lost so may elections. Strange.

Stuff like this is why I could never be a Republican. Their hypocritical outrage at any and everything Dems do is ear-splittng. Their silence when it's their own side is truly deafening.

Just think if a Russia-loving Dem was elected president and the VP used a hacked AOL account for state business while governor.

    Two questions:
    • How much classified information did Pence handle as governor?
    • How many emails did he fail to hand over to authorities?

    • So basically using personal unsecured email for government business is only wrong if its for classified?
    • I don't know how many emails he handed over or withheld. Do you?

There is absolutely no investigation related to Pence, which brings us back to the original reason these two situations are fundamentally different: Using a private account if you're the governor of Indiana, where it's legal to do so and you're ostensibly dealing with much less-sensitive information, is much different than using a private email account exclusively to do work as secretary of state, who has access to many if not most of the nation's top secrets.

See, the Democrats need to do a better job of showing people that they are liars and frauds, have a website about each Repub and the things they say and start tracking their lies....

Give the public somewhere they can get 100% facts.....and let them hang themselves.

Was it illegal when Clinton did it, or did it become illegal afterwards? I guess my question is, were both wrong doing it... and Clinton was more wrong due to the type of information involved?

Utterly embarrassing. Deflection. And a pathetic attempt to mimic a President Trump talking point about losing elections. .

    Pathetic.

    Or, better:

    PATHETIC!

Here comes the Pretzel twisting. Not sure if you are a Right winger but it looks like you are setting up the right wing twist here.

We know what counter you are trying to setup here. Republicans are very good at this twisting. They take their time to respond, and its almost like they send out of memo with talking points that everyone on the planet responds to.

The fact is Right Wingers were chanting "Lock Her Up" at rallies nonstop (with help from people like Pence, Flynn, Trump, etc.) and this along the same lines of the very same TYPE of issue.... Using a non-govt email server for government affairs..... only Pence actually got hacked.

Yes, Pence was "Only" a Governor. Yes he didn't bleach his computer software & destroy cell phones. Yes... no emails that we know of were marked as Classified. However you don't see riots in the streets and Pentacostal Church style chants to "Lock Him Up" because of this like you did with so-called "Conservatives" (whatever that means anymore). Just a simple reminder from your fellow American neighbors who voted different than you that you shouldn't throw stones when you live in a Glass House yourself.

The Hypocrisy just needs to be called out for what it is. The right plays dirty politics just like everyone else in Washington, and the Right is VERY good at dirty outrage politics... much better than the Democrats who suck at it & have poor strategies to win elections. Stop hiding behind your religion, Reagan, The Constitution (when convenient), etc. and embrace what you are. And the Left needs to stop taking the bait in trying to explain themselves. Explaining yourself makes you look like you did something wrong.
    ......

And to answer your second question.... As it was reported in the original story, Pence hired a "Private Lawfirm" to go through his emails before releasing them so don't act like there isn't potentially the same S#$% here that Hillary did.

Pence isn't a saint here. He's not your neighborhood Bible school teacher who mows his lawn in khakis on Saturdays. He's a career dirty F-ing politician who will gut you for a tax break for his wealthy donors & will kill to win an election. Don't ever forget that Republicans & especially Democrats.
