I'm mean Westbrook hype by the ESPN machine of course. But I guarantee you that Morey and Co has which voters they need circled.

He lost and shot 33% on 36 shots. He is not winning the award, mark my words. It's either harden or kawhi. If Spurs get one seed it's kawhi. If harden plays like butt it will be kawhi. If harden keeps this pace and we stay at the third seed it's harden. Westbrook ain't wining **** at the 7th seed jacking at a 41% clip.

He might be today. But if the Thunder remain in 7th and the Rockets lock down the 3rd seed(which seems almost certain barring injury) and finish with a better record than the Cavs, how do you not give it to Harden provided he plays respectable ball down the stretch?

I get that averaging a triple double for the entire season is an amazing achievement. But that doesn't mean you should automatically win the MVP. Oscar Robertson didn't in the season where he averaged one(Bill Russell got the award). Although it is worth noting that he did win the MVP for the 1963-64 season where he averaged 31.4 points, 11 assists, and 9.9 rebounds which is as close to a triple double as it gets.

Can't understand this obsession with the MVP. He gotta step up these weeks, he gotta put his team in +55 wins. He gotta decide some games in the clutch, he gotta play decent defense...if he does it he will get deservedly the MVP, if not, give the award to another player who deserves it more.

Harden definitely has to step it up in the upcoming weeks. He needs to have a few memorable/signature games in wins against good teams. An MVP award would do a lot for Harden's legacy and perception, and this might be his only chance to win the award.

why would it be his only chance. he was an mvp caliber player 2 years ago, if it wasn't for a bad season for the team overall, he still had an mvp type season last year. obviously this year, we don't have to say much. He's 27 and going to continue to be an mvp caliber player for the next few years.

Harden gave himself a huge cushion with that 50 point triple double in Madison Square Garden on NYE.

Even got immortalized in a Jay-Z line about it:)

It just seems like he never has the narrative on his side. He's damn near averaging a triple double himself, and he's on a top 4 team in the NBA, yet all the talk is now about Westbrook and his 7th seed squad. If he can't get it this year, then I don't even know what to say. I'm hoping he goes beast mode from here on out and the Rockets put together a nice little winning streak to solidify the MVP award for him.

heard plenty of love for harden for mvp all year long from a ton of different angles associated with the league. a lot of people just like to spin it like wb is the only one being talked about. but point being this won't be his only chance to win

Westbrook will never get what a key to team success is. He is a ballhog with no regard for anyone. Just watch his game last night in Portland. Harden however has become the opposite this season. He dose not take 30 plus shots anymore instead looking to distribute and get other involved,

Harden was not pleased when he lost out on the MVP a couple years ago. And if he loses it again this season despite being able to make the exact same case for himself that clinched the award for Curry over Harden, then he'll have every right to be even more upset.
