Its disheartening to listen to our GM Morey saying that "we are happy with the 3 man rotation of Capella, Harrell, Nene." We lack size and it clearly showed when we played against good teams. I would say, why not take a chance on a player like Larry Sanders? Low Risk, High Reward in my opinion. If he doesn't work out, then we let him go after the season.
Isaiah Thomas and another Celtic posted that same tweet when Celtics were in negotiations before the trade deadline. Also posted that before the Crowder trade made awhile back.
So he literally thinks if guys rotate quickly enough on defense and/or don't switch through picks/screens for the most part they will rebound better? I'm a be honest i come from the school of if your a center or forward in the paint and your a rebounder by any means necessary you will get rebounds. It's teamwork like most things are but guys like Capela and Anderson are plain soft... Nene is older and Harrell is a undersized hustler that's still learning the tricks and trade of nba fundamental techniques physically that a undersized 4 needs to learn.
1st the cavs, then the bay,... finally us!!! we are still here!!! put them beer googles on and get over here!! *the guy is waiting on the pretty girls in room!
I'm with you. It's crazy to think that our 3-headed monster are all good rebounders when that's not the case at all. In fact, I think their individual rebounding ability is more of a factor than the defensive breakdown. We are committed to offense. Apparently, that means coach is ok with having only one rebounder out there. It's part of why Harden has so many triple doubles this year. Who else is gonna rebound? Capela Weak but lanky and athletic. Gets pushed around easily under the basket. He uses his long arms and athletic ability to snatch rebounds. Can't do that when his opponent has just as much reach and athletic ability as he does. Capela is not pushing anyone out of the box, even opponents he outsizes. Nene Strong but not a great knack for the ball. You are not moving my dude unless you foul him. They don't always call those fouls either. But he is so slow-footed that the ball must come to him for him to rebound. Otherwise, it's gone. Harrell Good motor and athletic ability. He's just not tall enough. I don't know the measurements exactly, but his arms seem short. He's not boxing anyone out either, but at least he tries to. Feigen did seem kind of moody in those tweets. I got the hint that he was annoyed at being asked about Larry Sanders. But it's the internet. Can't really gauge that properly.
There's one thing all 3 do well, they shoot at an elite clip. Nene is has a great mid-range game too. They just get outworked and or outmuscled. Sanders makes a lot of sense but obviously it really comes down to our 3 to step up their intensity if we're gonna compete.
Is he suppose to blast them in the media? Morey knows the Rockets need more front court power, it's why he was chasing Bogut, let the chips fall now..
http://sports.abs-cbn.com/nba/news/2017/02/28/larry-sanders-readies-another-chance-nba-life-22546 Larry Sanders‏ @l8show_thegoat @RemyTraining23 bro never again....
A few years can make a big difference, especially when you spend those years not playing meaningful basketball. Look how much Hibbert regressed in so little time. We shouldn't judge Sanders by what he was but rather by what he is and I'm sure Morey has way more insight on that than any of us. Morey knows how much game Sanders still has and if he's worthy of a flier he'll get a flier. I just don't see the point of signing him if he sucks now. You don't have to actually sign the guy to know if he sucks.
If Sanders would accept, I can see him being the type for a 2-year 2nd year non-guarantee deal. Same deal Beasley got. The ghost of Royce White didnt stop Rockets from giving Beasley and Ty Lawson a shot. Bogut would have ate into Rockets bigs's time so its not issue of interfering with that. Sanders would just be there mostly inactive to get in shape for summer as a keeper or trade chip. Just give him the D-Leaguer "Tim Ohlbrecht" treatment.
Not how it works. Capela can't hold the paint in the regular season. It's a forgone conclusion he's going to get destroyed defensively in the playoffs. He can't pass the regular season fire test. What would make anybody think he's going to pass muster in the playoffs?
