Sooooooooo...... are we just gonna wait for a (heaven forbid) injury and then scramble to panic hire someone to fill the hole?
We jettisoned 2 players for nothing... are we gonna fill the slots or just keep running shorthanded...
Granted KJ and Ennis weren't rotational players... but at least they were a couple bodies if needed...

U look pretty short term, even if we dont do nothing the off-season moves will be stronger because of these moves. Granted it's not ideal we have empty spots, in Morey we trust.

I would say empty roster spots are wasted opportunities...
at least get some fliers on non-guaranteed contracts... with team options.....

I would imagine Jedi Morey is working some mind tricks on some assets as we write.

People have suggested Morey is waiting to sign a player or players from the Chinese league. I think that's a possibility as their season is ending soon. I like Jason Thompson or JJ Hickson if we're going for a big.

Where do you get those, at the supermarket or amazon? You talk as though there is an abundance of players out there.

There's a list of options earlier in this thread.

D-Leaguers are also an option as we have already seen with the Taylor signing.

Yes that happened and unless we know exactly what's Morey's reason for signing him, its hard to make judgement. The point is why do we need to fill that spot just for the sake of getting a full roster if we don't have any immediate of future plans for said player?

Depth qualifies as an immediate plan. We had starters out there out there until virtually the last minute against the Clippers last night.

It would also be safe to say Taylor falls into the category of future plans. We only have Williams for one more season after this one and Taylor is signed past the end of Williams current contract.

We have scouts that work year round so I feel comfortable saying anyone we bring in would have some potential in their eyes.

Edy Tavares - 7'3" 265 (via Draft Express)

If you can't sign a veteran, size like this doesn't just grow on trees. The highlights show his upside and athleticism. Not sure he could help now as he has limited big game experience. But putting him with Onuaku would give you lots of big man options for the future.

People who wouldn't like signing a guy like this are the same people that didn't want Morey to sign Whiteside.

Athletic 7 footers are a very scarce commodity

Not sure we're understanding each other. It is very important to add pieces that would help make us currently better or in the future. Adding a player just to have a full roster is what I responded to. It's like buying a Ferrari just because you can afford it. It does not make it a good financial move.

I don't think that we can just assume that if we pick up a player that they have no future.

Look how many players were on the Rockets roster for a brief period of time that ended up being successful elsewhere. Our scouts are very good at what they do.

Who's to say a guy we add from overseas in the next two weeks doesn't turn out to be a Bev level contributor?

If we sign a player because they feel they found the right player, I won't criticize that as I am sure they know what they are doing. But to criticize them for not filling the roster is silly. Is that clear enough?
