Shoot, we all WISH this Rockets team could do and will do what the 2011 Mavs did. I would love to have another championship for our city.
That mavs team was better defensively. I think if we had 2011 Tyson Chandler instead of Capela we might have a chance.
Is it possible? Yeah it's possible. No one was really giving the 11 Mavs a chance. Even at the beginning of the playoffs. But that entire playoffs Dirk turned his game up to a whole nother level and was far and away the best player during the playoffs and their shooters were really hot. It is absolutely possible to win with only one true star. It may not be easy, which is why every team that has won since then has had more than one. But it's possible. Harden has shown that he is capable of being the best player in the league but he doesn't do that always consistently. But if he can do that for at least 16 games and we go on a streak were our shooters stay hot for 16 games then yeah it would be possible.
This... along with Spurs or Warriors 2nd best player (Pau) being so heart-broken about his GF breaking up with him that he can't play straight.
Even that 11 Mavs team hd a defensive game center in Tyson Chandler. The front office needs to get Sanders or someone in here to strengthen the paint D.
Bulls Championships -- starting centers that Jordan had to face, defensive specialists, no one in the league of Robinson/Olajuwon -- 1991 - Knicks (Ewing), Pistons (Laimbeer, who beat him 2 years straight before), 76ers (Mahorn), Lakers (post-Kareem era with Vlade) 1992 - Miami (Rony Seikaly!), Knicks (Ewing), Cavs (NASCAR commentary Brad Daugherty), Blazers (2-time all-star Duckworth) 1993 - Hawks (Jon Koncak), Cavs (Daugherty), Knicks (Ewing), Suns ("Can't eat cheeseburgers" Oliver Miller) 1996 - Heat (Alonzo), Knicks (Ewing), Magic (Shaq), Sonic (Ervin Johnson) 1997 - Bullets (Gheorghe Can't Act Muresan), Hawks (Dikembe), Miami (Alonzo), Jazz (Ostertag) 1998 - Nets (Jayson Williams), Hornets (Vlade again), Pacers (the Dutch Yao, Rik Smits), Jazz (Ostertag) The gap between Jordan and Drexler/Maxwell was much smaller than Wennington/Longley/Cartwright/Perdue and Dream. Olajuwon 13-10 v Jordan including 7-5 in the Jordan championship years. I just wish that illegal screen was set when we played against Utah. Also throw in that the Bulls didn't have Rodman or Grant during the interim years.
