I have been bullish on Harden for the MVP for awhile now. Mostly because of solid stats and team record.

But it is clear that Westbrook is charging hard and to me is charging ahead. The team is winning (with an easy schedule ahead) and Westbrook is keeping up the stats and even going HAM in the 4th quarter to WIN games. Those 4th quater 1 man dominations resonates. And then there are the triple doubles.

That Rockets January stretch and a few of these Feb clunker games are really hurting Harden's momentum.

Need to see way more "attack mode" Harden. Less heat check/dagger 3s and more drives and and+ones.

It would be nice if the Rockets high priced shooters could shoot 38%+ from 3 each night as well.

I know Harden wants to win the MVP (who wouldn't?). But I am not concerned about this attitude win or lose. I think he has matured from that.

Harden is on a media tour to solidify his MVP standing. I like it. Perception matters.

The Rockets had a joke of a schedule in February. They should've gone undefeated and instead blew a 20-point 4th quarter lead at home to Atlanta, lost(again) to the Heat, and then twice blew big leads(16 & 17) to the Pacers the other night on national TV.

March is gonna decide the MVP. If the Rockets turn things around and get back to playing better than slightly above .500 ball and if they beat the Thunder(preferably by a big margin) on the 26th at Toyota Center, then Harden may regain the momentum.

Worth noting that that Rockets/Thunder game is Nationally Televised on ABC. Everyone will be watching.

I dread games that everyone is watching. IMO Harden doesn't play well in "statement games".

Well, he doesn't play as well as I would hope in those "statement games".

Yep. It's at 2:30. I've got tickets for it. It's the one regular season game I'm attending this year, so it looks like I picked a good one.

Hardens mvp is in trouble tbh. The kawhi narrative is going to get strong especially after tonight and with James shooting so bad recently. On top of that the kd injury, on the surface looks great for James, but it's actually horrible. Those who were rating kd so high are looking at stupid stats like efficiency ratings and other bs crap. Not real stats like triple dubs. I'm telling you now here comes the kawhi love...

Sadly, the Rockets will be helping Russ in his quest for MVP.

Memphis, Utah and Clippers have been playing like assholes lately. Russ and OKC are in prime position to get in the 4th seed and justify why he should be the MVP over Harden. OKC only ONE game back of the 4th seed:eek::mad::(. The media is thirsty for it!

Harden is having a historic season on a top 4 team, but is Westbrook finishes with a triple double, I wouldn't have a problem with him winning MVP. That is incredible.

Harden has this. The Thunder will go into a funk soon I'm certain.

I have been waiting for this for some weeks now... Let's hope they do.

They are pretty close to the 4th place.. I am afraid that if they finish 4th he will win the MVP..

The Rockets finished 2nd behind only the Warriors in 2015 and that wasn't enough to win James the MVP because Golden State had 11 more wins. It's the win total that should matter, not the seedings. If the Rockets finish with 58 wins and the Thunder only, say, 49, sorry but if the media is gonna be consistent, James should be the MVP.

He's likely to win the MVP even if they don't finish 4th.

    1) Harden had a funk at the wrong time
    2) Drumbeat of former players (and even former WNBA players lol) explaining why Westbrook is the best DURING ROCKETS GAMES
    3) Anti-Morey, Anti-D'Antoni bias is legit
    4) Westbrook narrative is juicier because of the Durant stuff. He was pegged as MVP before the season even started. It's what the media wanted all along
    5) He has had a historic season with eye popping numbers

If Harden wins MVP it would be truly special considering all of that.

I do think that's a huge factor. Many people in the media had Westbrook winning the MVP the moment Durant bolted for the Warriors. So they'll move the goalposts however much is necessary in order to keep that narrative going:
