I know players had to be waived by today to be playoff eligible. Is today also the deadline to sign a free agent and them be playoff eligible?
I don't think there's a separate deadline for that. I guess it would be whenever you have to set your playoff roster. T-Mac signing with San Antonio just before the playoffs a couple years back would be an example of a super late signing.
This is correct. This is to keep from teams waiving useful players last minute when the playoff picture is set. Although, with how much race to the bottom there is in the league these days, it's essentially what's already happening - useful players choosing which playoff teams to go to.
Good idea, 4/5 who can shoot...but i don't know, he was looking soo bad/soft during his last period in the nba...MDA can help him i guess, but not sure if he can do that much at this point...
Honestly, at this point I would take my chances with Nanu at C for some minutes. Maybe he can surprise us. As for buyouts, I still like Casspi for the Rockets system.
The move might be to sign Calderon now and sign Casspi/waive Brown in a month. If I had to pick one, I'd go with Casspi and see if he would take a two year, $6 million deal (or even 3/$9 million). The more I look at our cap, the more I see the need to move Anderson if we are signing a star this summer. It is too difficult for us to get to $30.9 million otherwise. If we can get Casspi locked up, that adds some flexibility to our roster.
@D-rock i would take your Lance Stephenson now. I see the Pels are at 15 players without Lance. Looks like they didn't give him a second 10-day contract. His ankle sprain should be well soon. I'm up for taking a chance on any combo of: Lance Stephenson (shot 38.5% from 3 last season between Clips/Grizz) Casspi (if healthy by PO's....Pels turned down trades x Casspi during D-Cous trade; guessing one was Morey). Dorell Wright Larry Sanders Hansbrough Jimmer Peace out People. I'll be back around Draft/Free Agency time.
