I will be blasted for making a new thread but I feel this is the direction we should go right now. Matt Barnes and Josh Smith. Both make 3s, both play defense, both can provide that edge that you need to get in opponents heads, and both can fit right into this system as role players off the bench (all for 2 roster spots which we already have). I just really do not see a downside to these players added to our team. Some can say that Barnes is a cancer and Smith is washed up with a 3 happy mind-set and that may be true to a degree. But we do not need 30 minutes from either player. Our team is strong enough to handle 1 volatile player like Barnes and keep him fighting for us.
It'd be telling a whole other story about Jim harden if he approves Barnes here after what Barnes said to Harden's mom As for Josh Smith - He sucks as a shooter. He makes 3's ok - but jacks up tons of ill advised shots at bad percentages
If there was anyway for Morey to sit down with Smith before signing him to compromise then that would be the best solution. We will let you take 3s in the 3rd quarter, but in the 4th we want you in the paint to play defense and smack people around
I wouldn't hate the addition of Barnes as another agitator. That's cool and all, but he probably isn't good enough to crack the rotation. Same with J-Smoove. I'd be fine with him playing a situational role, but I don't trust him to play consistent minutes. Either way, he's not good enough defensively to stop the current layup drill opposing teams are enjoying at our expense. Point being: don't get your hopes up.
Was Josh Smith team Harden or team Howard? That should tell us if this is even a remote possibility Paging @basketballholic LOL
We need an athletic defensive minded power forward to frustrate D. Green. Good things will happen for the Rockets when Draymond is frustrated.
Well we know we wouldn't get that from Scola. Smith and Barnes seem to be the best options at defense right now in my mind. Don't know of any other player that can fit that role for us right now.
Josh Smith and Dwight Howard were AAU teammates btw. Also Josh was Dwight's best man at this wedding. Just thought you should know.
I think i remember @Codman posting something about Josh Smith telling off Dwight last season or something but, I'm gonna go ahead and say he was Team Harden.
No **** Einstein. Tell that to @adeelionare. I heard something like that too so I wanted confirmation.
Might wanna look up J. Smoove's shooting numbers across in China before bringing his name up lol.. psst, he shoots worse than Clint from FT
