I'm just a dude because of penis and xy and gender don't matter when it comes to relieving onesself.

Harassment and assault should be dealt with period. File charges, file suit, etc... just like any other incident.

LOL I do love when mentally soft people flip out like this and start calling people "bigots", it's like their goal is to make everyone laugh at them.

My point stands, transgendered people are most likely going to the women's restroom now even though the men's room is more equipped for their genetalia. Still waiting to hear stories from some of y'all about the time you were in a public men's restroom with an uncomfortable transgendered person.

and im still waiting to hear how yall want to enforce this bathroom bill.

as far as being in a restroom with an uncomfortable transgendered person...there are multiple cases of trans people being assaulted in bathrooms...but no cases of transgendered people assaulting others in bathrooms...so i imagine many of them are uncomfortable or fearful in public restrooms. but you know what? i dont obsess over whether or not someone is transgender...i pee and get out. im not checking out other people and assuming anything about them like some of yall must be doing.

    where should this person pee?

does this scenario make you less "uncomfortable"?

Is it too difficult to just have three bathrooms? Men, Women, Trans.

Not at all, it can happen just as soon as you pay for every public building in America to build a 3rd restroom, changing room, locker room, shower, and every other facility that is separated by sex. Just write that check and it'll happen.

Agreed. If people didn't insist on peeing all the time, we wouldn't have this problem.

And yet this is a Republican bill trying to shove an agenda down everyone's throat. SB6 could have said simply 'no city or political subdivision may require a standard of gender self-identification' and left it open. But they had to go a step further and put their own requirement in place. Even if it was liberals who threw the first punch, Republicans aren't simply blocking blows, they are punching back. As for who really started it, I'm happy to claim it for liberals. This was a civil rights issue where trans citizens were being given inappropriate accommodation because of the philosophical discomfort their transgenderedness caused some conservative decisionmakers. If you have to take some proactive steps to protect the civil rights of minority groups, so be it.

That's not how SB6 works, I don't think. You have to write a letter to the management of the facilities alerting them that they are out of compliance with the law. Then you give them 3 business days to fix the breach. If they do not, then you complain to the Attorney General.

Of course, you can always call the cops on an individual. But, I don't really see anything in SB6 that addresses the behavior of individuals aside from those who are committing some crime. I can't imagine cops are all that eager to be the bathroom gender monitors anyway. I suppose they can maybe charge someone with trespassing or use a catch-all like disorderly conduct if they need to give some trans some official repression. Probably they'll just ask the person for a DL, and then direct the person to use the bathroom of the sex on the DL next time. SB6 only becomes relevant in closed institution populations like schools or jails where you have the same trans person making the same choice each time and now the institution has to leverage its institutional power to bully the trans into using the designated bathroom.

Retrofitting existing real estate would be expensive and in some places prohibitive (imagine a restaurant that has to give up 3 tables to squeeze in another bathroom that will almost never be used). A lot of places now have family bathrooms that I imagine would also be useful as a third option for trans. But, as a policy solution it essentially tells trans we don't accept them as male or female (which is the genesis of problem in the first place). That is a pretty dehumanizing position to be in. You could make everything unisex. Aside from the cost and the broad inconvenience, it would actually treat everyone equally. It is the 'take my ball and go home' solution though.

Yes and you will be discriminating against 50+ other recognized genders in the process. Bottom line, using gender is a slippery slope that should be avoided.

Not saying that it has not happened but in current times I can not say that I heard of a case where a transgender was given a ticket or citation for using the restroom.

Well sure, it's not a real issue, but LGBTQAMNBOIUIYEALCU groups need something to drive donations and this is the closest thing to a real issue that they have left now that the courts rightfully ruled in favor of gay marriage.

    Non issue. No legislation needed.

Please just try not to pee on the floor... that pisses me off.

So you admit the left started it? When the left does something stupid like trying to fix a problem that does not exist in a way that causes problems, yes the right will make corrections. You do realize had the left not started this crap in the first place it would not be an issue and the right would not be looking to create this law? So you are happy the left tried to fix a problem that does not exist? Did you not think the lefts actions would cause an equal reaction from the right?

I think the left knew this would happen. They were hoping it would happen and actually counting on it. It gives them another way do fund raising since nobody is contributing to the gay marriage coffers any more. For people like you it just gives you another batcrap crazy agenda to fight for.
