The Rockets have 2-3 spots available. I don't have a problem with the Rockets adding Scola if they decide they like his rebounding, hustle and passing. He will be in the right spot on the floor defensively, even though he is physically limited.
Having Scola back would really be cool to see, but he does not fit a need for the Rockets. Would he even be able to play at our current pace? I would expect him to be the new victory cigar, along with Bobby. I love Scola's crafty game, but we need rim protection/rebounding and wing support for Trevor. Screw needs. Bring Scola back!
@Snow Villiers his total rebounding percentages from last year are virtually a wash with Jared Sullinger, with Scola being a superior defensive rebounder.
I would sign him because - Veteran presence. - Work ethics and spirit positive morale boosts. - Just so Spurs don't sign him. - He look okay. (His per 36 stats basically the same as his best days. Though DRtg sucks.)
I love Scola but this would not be a good move because he really doesn't add anything that we need. He can't help us not get bullied in the paint by teams with bruisers like Memphis. Not the type of move we should make if we're really trying to contend for a championship. This is a move you make when you have no chance at making the playoffs and you want to make your fans feel a little better about your team sucking.
Love Scola but that ship ahs long sailed. Poor defensively, sub par shooting. Could bring him in as a veteran voice, an instructor to teach some ice cream moves and locker room presence but don't expect him to contribute much playing on the court
Would strongly consider bringing him in just as a veteran leader. As your 13-15th rotation player you could do much worse. It doesn't solve interior defense, but we can use the other roster spot for that. I'm all for it. Sign me tf up
We need a designated 2-point shooter. Somebody's got to take that one shot every game to keep defenses honest.
If Houston's not going to get Bogut, and it sounds like they aren't, I'd definitely be up for bringing Scola back. He'd immediately be the best rebounding PF on the roster, he's developed a legitimate 3-point shot and he's a solid rotational veteran presence with postseason experience. I also think he might be a good fit in D'Antoni's offense.
Harden can make hustle players into key rotational players. Scola would feast off of Harden's passes. I don't know if he is the guy though.
Did you type this the way you meant it? Can't do much worse? Doesn't jive with the rest of your post so I'm assuming just a mistake.
Yes yes yes yes. Too bad D-mo is not here to play with his idol. He can teach Capela some slick moves, and he makes the best faces on the bench. Can we bring back Battier while we're at it? Pretty please
