You're my dude, @Tha_Dude, but we have the opportunity to aid our rebounding due to Moreys chess moves at the deadline. Morey definitely needs to scour the world for someone we can put in for short stretches when were getting wrecked on the boards!
Whats our winning record during that time. Oh yeah it's the same as our overall standing 4th in the entire league. Defense is overrated on this board. Again we had Dwight Howard last year, which roster has done better? Bogut is not going to get us where we want to be another superstar will, our defense is fine, our rebounding is OK. More rebounding is not going to get us past the Warriors for the billionth time.
Yeah, but we are 16th in the league since the all star break (since trading Brewer) And we were 26th in the league in our last game And were 2nd in the League for February (until the last game) Am I doing it right?
Our issue is we give up so many second chance points due to being a bad defensive rebounding team. This actually hurts our defense. A lot of times we actually do force teams into misses but they get the offensive glass and score on second chance points, If we can do a better job limiting teams to one shot our defense will actually get a lot better. The biggest issue is our defensive rebounding.
It is hard to gauge, we should probably look at the trend in the last few years. I suspect that Most teams slack more on D during this time.
We have Ryan Anderson at Power Foward, once Capela forces a miss your Power Forward should get that rebound but Anderson couldnt keep KAT off the second chance boards the other day and probably most days, You take some and you give some that's on strategy and guess what we're winning let them have their second chance points. I dont know where you guys are gonna find players who are great defensively and at rebounds and can shoot over 40% from three that's rare for big men. The only people who can do that are usually superstars. If we get Bogut he will still have to play with Ryan Anderson, once Bogut forces the miss he wont be able to get the rebound and Minnesota was playing two bigs they likely will get it but it doesn't matter because we are better offensively and we play good enough defense to win the game.
You can address that by team rebounding. When you're best rebounder is a 6'5 shooting guard then the issues go way deeper then that. Nene, Capella, Harrell and Dekker are not great rebounders.Nene is a very good post defender and a lot better then I thought he would be but rebounding is not his thing.
OK so team rebounding in terms of who we have and who we can get what does that mean exactly? It still means Bogut does not move us closer to where we want to be. Unless you replace our guys with better rebounders but you sacrifice shooting and we're winning why do that? As I said in order to improve we need to change strategy or get another superstar.
We are not going to get a superstar right now so the thing is everyone has to crash the defensive glass better and show some effort.
Larry Sanders, Josh Smith. Bogut shouldn't be in convo going forward, he's not available yet and if he was he wants to play for Cavs. Not an option, so let's take off table and focus on next plan. Don't want to get Boshed again.
Morey should check some SportsVU numbers on D-League guys for rebounding. Definitely agree with the previous point about weak rebounding from the PF position. A big D-Leaguer may be the fix there.
I know we are not going to get another superstar now that's my point, I simply said in order to get past the Warriors and be the type of team some of these guys want we need more superstars. They want us to be tops in both categories and you need special players for that. We have one superstar, the most we can get is Andrew Bogut who does not really change anything and doesn't want to come here.
Larry Sanders has not played basketball in years and Josh Smith is not a good shooter, you are going to sacrifice big time doing that, you will move the needle back not forward. No matter who you replace Capela with they will have the same problem, we have mostly shooters on the floor not rebounders and if you replace decker and anderson with rebounders then you can't stretch the floor. You can't have it both ways it takes special players for that. We don't have Draymond Green or David West in his prime, players that can rebound and stretch the floor, and bogut doesn't do that and smith can't shoot.
It's simply not feasible to fix all of our problems during the mid season trade line after retooling in the offseason with a new coach and lineup. More than likely what we have is what we will roll with. We played good defense in February, like we did in December. Defense and rebounding are our biggest weaknesses but fortunately we are elite on the other end.
Not going to get special players at this time, so that expectation is completely unrealistic. Neither Sanders nor Smith are not being brought in to start but to back up Capela and Nene. Their primary role is to rim protect and rebound. Shooting is not what Rockets are looking for in a back up 5. There are more than enough shooters on this team and you don't need the 5 to stretch the floor. You need the 5 to rim protect and rebound, period.
lol Are you even reading my posts or are you just blindly replying, lol. I know we're not going to get any special players and I know it's unrealistic that's my point. We have Harell, Capela, and Nene who are doing just fine. Butfor what people are asking for you need a special player Bogut not going to help. Our defense has been fine or else we wouldn't be winning and our problem with rebounding is from the pf position, in order to get a power forward who rebounds and can shoot and defend you need Kevin Love or Draymond Green, my point is what people are asking for is unrealistic on a team who plays our style and only has one superstar.
Month isn't over yet. They dropped from #2 in February to #7 in one game, though. (Last game dropped us 5 spots.) One more bad Feb game, and February could drop down to normal average ranking for the year.
