Omri Caspi was released from the pelicans due to a fractured thumb that will make him miss 4-6 weeks. That's an opportunity for us to find that veteran 3-4 wing with 40% from the behind the arc to help us in the Playoffs for minimum salary. Should we go for it?
Nope. Maybe in 4-6 weeks we can reevaluate if he is 100%. Rather pick up a guy that can contribute now.
If you want Casspi for the playoffs, I think you need to sign him by March 1 to be eligible. And with 2 roster spots open, you could definitely take a flyer on him. I actually think this is a good idea.
we have enough capable small ball 4s on this team, dont need another. and plenty of depth so dont need that. only things this tema needs is consistent defense and another star. since they traded kj and ennis for cap space, they might as well get him or whoevers available. would be funny if he's fully healed and he picked up the same shooting last time he was here.
To be honest I don't see why not take him for the minimum before the Clippers will take him. We have the available spots, there is no better player on his position available and he is only there for back up spot if some of the wing guys get injured. We are very thin on the wing and he's a 6.9', decent rebounder that loves the open court with 38% career from the 3. He can fit perfectly in the system without too much adjustment, knows the players and he's gotten much much better since his last stint here. I think it's a no brainer.
I'm a fan of Casspi and biased here, but absolutely. A 40% 3 shooter to pickup minutes at 3/4? Sign me up
Maybe we should sign him after you can spell his name right. You have different spellings in the title and OP Don't want another Capela/Capella
He could be out 6 weeks. That's basically the rest of the regular season. Why not sign someone who could help us immediately?
Interesting idea at the very least. Casspi is a really nice 10th/11th man to have over there for an Ariza injury.
No. By the time his injury heels he wouldn't be useful in the playoffs anyway. Waste of a spot pretty much
Hey don't blame me because English is a weird language. I can spell Casspi's name in Hebrew if you want to be more accurate. כספי
Yes, we should bring Casspi back. There are a limited number of forwards out there and he is the one that fits the best. Good locker room guy, smart player, knows Harden, Bev Good size (6'9", 225) for either forward position in today's NBA Finishes well in transition (Last Season: 1.16 PPP on 66.5 eFG% in transition) Good defensive rebounder for his size (Last Season: 20.1 DREB%; Career: 17.2 DEB%) Good 3-point shooter (Last Season: 40.9%; Career: 36.9%), especially from the corners (Last Season: 43.5%; Career: 42%) He is out 4-6 weeks with a fractured thumb which means (1) he should still be able to work out with the team and (2) he will be back April 7th at the latest. Our system is not complex and he is a smart player, he should be able to figure it out in no time. Could be a useful 10th man. G: Bev / Lou Will G: Harden / Gordon F: Ariza / Dekker F: Anderson / Casspi C: Capela / Nene, Sanders or Bogut, or Harrell, depending on matchups
