My wife's cousin was at this bar watching the KU game when this happened.

Such a sad story and a senseless waste of a life. If there's any good to it, it's this guy:

    Video of his interview here:

It's people like this guy that restore my faith in humanity. Wish him and all the ones affected by this shooting a speedy recovery.

Laughable to try to pin this kind of stuff on Trump. Hate crimes like this were happening at about the same clip prior to Trump running for president. The significant rise in racial tensions which precipitates an increase in crimes like this began with the climate of divisiveness that President Obama created.

If anyone attempts to indirectly blame Trump and his rhetoric for hate crimes like this then you must conversely blame Obama and his divisive rhetoric for hate crimes like the Dallas police officer shootings. To not do so would be hypocritical.

Because racism started when trump went into office right?

While I do not disagree that he might have opened the closet to some shy racists, you can say something about any president having a negative effect

No, but Trump made racism acceptable for many people.

Seems this thread is going to get derailed with political views. All I will say is if he overnight changed to becoming a saint in people's eyes by opening the borders and allowing illegals to flood through anytime and did whatever necessary to look and sound correct....

When you start to pay the price of political correctness and the pursuit of not looking racist, do not blame Trump when our security, economy and lives are at risk.

What is there to debate or discuss about this? Guy murders 2 other guys, guy should rot in jail for the rest of his life because they don't really do the death penalty in Kansas. Seems a pretty straight forward situation.

I agree. The first repsonse blamed Trump so it took a turn immediately.

That's just an opinion and there is no way you can back this claim as a fact.

Sure there is a way. Go to one of the white supremacist websites and see whether they believe Trump's election was a validation of their racial prejudices. You could be right and they don't believe this to be the case, but nevertheless there is a potential way to "back it up".

Just an opinion based on a logical train of thought and words from like minded people, but you are right - it is virtually impossible to see into someone else's mind.

Hopefully Trump doesn't have to be brow beaten to speak out against this type of stuff. He didn't believe it was worthwhile to talk about the attack in Quebec or the multiple threats against synagogues/ the Jewish cemetery (until pressure built against him). Meanwhile, he was happy to talk about a non-existent event in Sweden perpetuated by hypothetical moose-lambs.

Leaders lead and speak out for what they believe is right. What he says is a good window into what he believes, so we can use that as an example to understand what he believes. Not holding my breath, though - we have heard him speak out in the past, so I think we know what is in his mind.

Trump is a marketing guy. He is pushing a message to his market, and he isn't going to validate facts that undermine his message.

It's laughable not to correlate this to Trump, even more laughable to pin the police shootings on Obama.

Did he ever once say Radical Bigoted Pigs? Stuff Obama didn't say:

"All of these pigs....with their guns all over the place shooting unarmed civilians. And it's getting worse folks. Just the other day in Sweden, have you seen the out of control cops in Sweden? Sweden..."

Or talk about cop incidents that didn't get reported by the dishonest media. Media doesn't have enough time in the day to talk about crooked cops.

Keep at it though your logic is solid.
