Rim Protection and Rebounding. Defense is shaky but if we do address Rebounding and Rim Protection, then our wings are average or above average defense when focused
ROCKETS-WARRIOR Weren't the Rockets one of the top rebounding teams in the first couple months of the season? Our defense was up there too. Then the schedule got harder and a certain player or two with not enough help played too many minutes, and there was a domino effect. Just my opinion.
If Ariza is playing the 4, your in trouble. The push for rebounding isn't about keeping up with the rest of the pack - it's about beating the very best teams in the league right now. Just a quick peek at Golden State's rebounding totals in all their losses is they have been outrebounded in all of them - the larger the margin, the worse the loss. It makes sense too - the Warriors take lots of high value but low percentage shots(3s) - when you limit their opportunity to take those or increase your own opportunity to take more of those same shots, you tilt the table in your favor. Basically pace and rebounding are the two biggest killers to that style of play which is why I think Houston needs better rebounding and also why I think the Pelicans are going to be a TOUGH team in the playoffs against Golden State.
....or lets hope we catch a break with someone on the Warriors getting hurt - that team has inexplicably been super healthy(new Phoenix Suns?)
glimmertwins Yeah I agree about Cousins, I was telling alcatrazpsycho the other day we should get rid of everything for him (which Morey might have tried) but I think the kings were too fixated on the pelican with "curry potential". I still think Houston will have Parental Guidance in 2018, calling it now.
Not sure what the point of this is when we know D'Antoni won't go over a 9-man rotation. Harden Bev Lou Gordon Ariza Dekker Andereson Capela Nene
Rebounding was up there earlier, Capela was very good for a stretch (playing like a top 10 C) and the defense was good while the schedule was easy. Capela hasn't played as well, at least D and rebounding wise, and minutes have piled up alot. We have to hope Capela can get back to a very good C who doesn't dominate other top C, but can matchup with them. Gobert, Adams, Jordan, LMA, Dedmon, Kanter, Gasol, and maybe Mcgee are his competition.
Louka Agree w Lightsnowaction, think coach ups it to 10 these playoffs w Harrell Lightsnowaction I think a big part of Capelas "slump" had to do w coming back from injury. I think his play really improves with the right balance of consistent minutes and rest, so hoping coach finds the right balance between him, Nene and Harrell
Judging from the responses so far to this thread, I'm the only one who wants 3 help and thinks our center spot is solid (and no center change before deadline so maybe Morey agrees? lol). But then you look at the "Which 1 player makes us a champion" poll, Paul George is the #1 choice for players we could get. Hmmm...
Yes I'm hoping it catches on (but it probably won't lol). If Steph is a video game, James is a cartoon. Too good. And when you see the teeth it's all over...
I am OK with current center spot. We are at a disadvantage inside against the Whitesides and Dwights but that's OK. The big plodders are going to get run off the court. Most of the true contenders go small at crunch time anyway (including the Spurs). I wanted Wilson Chandler but Denver didn't want to concede this season for better future assets (and max cap room this summer) for whatever reason. I still would like another 3 and D wing. Since we now have 2 roster spots I expect a wing and a big. Mostly for insurance purposes
Just sign C Larry Sanders and SF/stretch 4 Raphiael Putney, then let's get back to work! Unless a better than player than Bogut is stretched/waived.
I really really really hope we try TrezL at the 4 spot along side Capela or Nene just to see if it would relieve some of the inside problems we have. MontyL has the potential to be an semi-elite 4 spot defender based on athleticism and length. I really hope he works on this part of his game along with his shooting. Either way i hope they can get their answer because playoffs if he would work to make the front court beefier at the 4.
