    That's my back of a napkin calculation as to our current cap space?
    *edit* my napkin ran out of space - Heurtas!

    Would love to get a more accurate figure
    The cap is 94.143 mill
    Rockets salaries were either at 94.5 or 94.1 mill

    Brewer for Lou = $612k savings
    KJ = $3.333 mill savings
    Ennis = 1.733 savings

    Heurtas $1.5mill cost

    So the figure should stand in the range of approx $3.7-$4.2 mill

    Depending on where we were at, there's a fair amount of cap space now available to work some magic with the buyout guys.

    When do the NBA contracts actually start? ie what full season number can a pro-rated $3.7 - $4.2 mill bring back?

    We took on Huertas' salary though. I think ~$3.5mill is the number.

    Thanks guys!

    Obviously Bima has superior info - but the 3.54 number seems too small based on what is out there? Is there something else I missed?

    We have to use cap room first to have access to the MLE right?

    We are but his salary stays on the books (unless someone were to claim him, which seems unlikely).

    That's not what Bima is saying. He's saying we have $3.5m compared to the options that he lists, which other contenders have. He also says CLE has some TPEs but smaller than our cap room.

    Do we gain the MLE once we use up the cap space or nah?

    Doesn't matter, it's all about the space and flexibility for Morey. How did we not address our rebounding? Bogut is injury prone and a dick, so that's not an answer.

    are new contracts for buy out players prorated? So they will get roughly 30% of those numbers?

    Because no one was ... probably available unless DM was willing to part with core pieces.

    wrt to Bima's post about the buyout market, we already used exceptions. We have $3.54m pure cap to spend in the buyout market.

    Are you talking about this summer?

    I think I'm asking if someone is waived, how much salary can we claim off waivers?
    (obviously the answer is the amount of capspace we have - but pro-rated how much equivalency to a full year contract do we have?)

    According to BimaThug's tweet, the answer would be someone who was making approx $5mill

    Gotcha. I was wondering if we gain an additional MLE if we go over the cap again. Now I realize that's silly. Thanks.

    I'm a bit curious how that $3.52 million value is calculated as well.

    Prior to these trades the Rockets salary was at $94,091,224 and the salary cap is $94,143,000. So before any of these trades the Rockets were $51,776 below the salary cap. After the trades it should be:
    Lou = +$7,000,000
    Huertas = +$1,500,000

    Ennis = -$1,733,880
    KJ = -$3,333,333
    Brewer = -$7,612,172

    which comes out to $4,179,385 in additional cap room or a total of $4,231,161 below the salary cap. That is a +$691,161 difference from Bima's value...

    EDIT: Hoopshype is missing the $680,534 value of Bobby Brown's original contract (pre-DMo saga waiving). Spotrac also has Ariza making $6,971 more than Hoopshype. So this would bring the Rockets down to $3,543,656 in cap space.

    You may be correct, but I have learn to NEVER EVER doubt Bima when it comes to the Salary Cap. Dude should be a capoligist in a front office some where. Make it happen Morey!

    Thanks I see where the difference is now. Hoopshype has an issue showing Bobby Brown's new salary. Whenever we cut him the first time it apparently left $680,534 of dead money from his first contract and after resigning him he counts as
    $259,536 against the cap. Hoopshype only has the $259,536 salary and doesn't show the $680,534 figure.
