I wouldn't expect a lot of people to like that idea, and to be fair, I wasn't suggesting a punishment if people didn't carry it on them, only that it trigger further scrutiny. As it stands you basically need to carry ID on you at all times now, so it really wouldn't change anything.
I like the idea that all legal citizens be provided a form identification that they can use for various purposes (including voting). But when does a law enforcement officer decide to demand to see someone's ID? And shouldn't we be weary of racial profiling?
I imagine it would be a situation where they would have to have cause to initiate a legal stop, only then would they be able to ask to see it. It's not a perfect solution, but it could be one part of a solution.

Trump creates a culture of fear, which harms the country, and opens the door to crime. If you're afraid of the police, you're not going to report crimes that occur to you, which means people go further and further underground. Nothing about Trump's agenda is effective or good here. In case you didn't notice, the number of illegal immigrants in this country declined under Obama - the difference was he did in in a controlled, humane way. You might want to consider not forming your views from 2 minute Youtube video clips that your friends forward to you. It just exposes your ignorance.

Agreed, and this is the best solution to solving illegal immigration. It's also a common sense solution, but republicans and democrats will never support this because the republicans will lose donors and the democrats will lose voters. So it's lose/lose for both parties.

It also made police much more sheepish in enforcing crime in areas and double digit murder rate increase in major cities in 2016.
