If anyone is interested in learning all you can about the industry, this is probably the best go to source for everything:

YES. The anti-inflammatory properties have always been understated. I can run so much farther baked...I feel like I'm floating off the ground.

I also love yoga more than anything (I pay for unlimited monthly classes) and doing it stoned is one of the small pleasures in life.

    YAY HOUSTON!

    Nice!

Who would have thought that cannabis could ever be considered a PED, but here we are:

    https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-debate-over-running-while-high-1423500590

I think as the stigma goes away, people will discover that most everything is better with the right strain.

probably quite a bit. i dont know if i totally buy the argument that jailing people for weed is cost prohibitive. houston has bigger fish to fry, but plenty of small towns out there make a killing off busting people for possession of small amounts. i went to jail in sutton county out in west texas for $20 worth of weed about 15 years ago. i was jailed for 12 hours, bonded out and hired an attorney. county got $1200 (i paid double the fine to avoid probation), bondsman got $250 and lawyer got $1000 for probably 20 minutes of work. there is a whole industry going on tthat brings in a lot of revenue for lots of different people.

whats a class going to cost? $40?

Why is that "lol" funny? It makes sense to me. It's really difficult to justify a bunch of individual 8ths as being for "personal use". Maybe if you had multiple personalities...

Just talked to one of my neighbors here in CenTex, his wife has been going through chemo/radiation for ovarian cancer, one of the only things she can do to keep the nausea down is smoke. She's a former State employee, and they told her if she tests positive one more time they'll yank her benefits. That's ****ed up.

Former state employee? Then why is she still being being tested? What state is this?

Heading to Colorado this summer to take in a Rockies game and cannot wait to walk into a dispensary and partake. I am sure I will be just as paranoid as I was when I was younger scoring a dime bag :)

It's funny within the context of this thread because of the amount involved. One could easily just assume that the large amounts they are allowing here are going to be intended to be distributed regardless of how it's packaged. It's going to be rare when the larger amounts are just for the person caught with it. Personally, I think the amount is way too much. And, your regular idiot is probably not even going to be aware that how they have it packaged is going to make or break them on this until it's too late.

It's more to do with hurting workforce/economy for one time offenders since they'll be labeled irc 2 oz or higher (but less than 4) was pretty crazy, wasting hours of cops time, and then overcrowding jails for stupid laws. It's basically like a trickle down issue in the long run. So while small towns catching people passing through would benefit, I think someone in Houston losing their job (that let's say makes $50-100k) for some weed offense (so no longer spending in the local community/economy) and then the cop/judge etc time waste it probably makes it easier, plus the drugs get "destroyed as evidence" (smoked) :) after you complete the class and you don't have to explain to your employer why you're not at work.

I think the other article I read it really only accounts for 10% of cases in Harris County, and I think if you have a major record already/on probation then you still get jailed. I'm betting there is a limit on times in a certain period of time since the class is on "making better decisions"

I guess lawyers could make less, but then they'll be free for bigger cases. Again this was off some other article in addition to this.

Just do your research ahead of time and you will be fine.

If you have not already done so, download the "Leafly" app so that you can study up on all of the latest strains and what effects they bring. The last thing you want to do is just walk in and shoot from the hip as you may end up hitting a dab rig loaded with a heavy indica, which would more than likely equal "lights out" for you. There are so many great sativas that produce a stimulating, creative and euphoric buzz that are perfect for daytime social activities. It's just a matter of finding "your" strain.

Once you have identified the area of strain you are looking for, you can either use the Leafly app or you can download the "Weedmaps" app and search for dispensaries in the area you are visiting that have it on their menu.

If you do none of this, just be sure to ask your budtender plenty of questions. If they are any good, they will steer you in the right direction.

    Hope this helps. Have fun!

    Great question.

In the world of cannabis vaping, you first need to determine whether you want to go new age and vape the hash oil(or Butane Hash Oil - BHO- as it is commonly referred to and shortened, but alot of quality extract producers are using CO2 in lieu of Butane, which is healthier) that is very popular amongst newcomers, or go with the more traditional flower vaping.

    For BHO
    Pros-

-This is the easiest and most discreet way of consuming. You literally just screw in the cartridge to your battery (the thing that looks like a pen) and start puffing away. The vapor may produce an aroma, but it is very short lived as it dissipates very quickly. If ease and discretion is what you are looking for, this is the way to go. Perfect for taking out in public or keeping from spouses or family who are still stuck in the "weed is bad" era.

-Depending on your intended use, this may be the most economical route as well. Cartridges are usually sold in either 1/2 or full gram allotments. A quick rule of thumb for equivalence purposes when comparing to flower is, 1/2 gram = about an 1/8th of bud, full gram = quarter. If you just want to take a puff here and there, once or twice a day, a 1/2 gram should last you about a month or more, depending on how hard you rip on it.

    Cons-
-Strainwise, you are limited to what your extraction company of choice is producing. If you get on the Leafly app, you can read about hundreds of strains that ALL sound mouthwatering to some extent. You may really like that someone has bred a cross of Snoop's favorite strains, Master Kush and Blue Dream, into what they call Snoop's Dream, but you aint getting any of that in BHO form anytime soon.

-DO NOT HIT THESE LIKE THEY ARE JOINTS. The potency is 2-3 times that of regular bud. If you start ripping away thinking you have a joint, things could go south for you very quickly. Seriously, a puff or two should be enough in most applications, at least to get a feel. Tread lightly at first, and then add on as required.

There are so many extract producers that is hard to determine what is quality and what is not, so you may just have to dive in and try and find the right brand for you. For me, I have been using a bay area company, Bloom Farms, and another company called Brass Knuckles.

    http://getbloomfarms.com/
    http://ediblesmagazine.com/edibles/xzibits-brass-knuckles-vaporizer-line-review/

    For Flower Vaping
This is for the traditionalist looking for a healthier option to smoking. You can vape any strain you can get your hands on. If you so happen to find Snoop's Dream, fork over your cash and take it home to enjoy as soon as you can. The only thing you need is an actual herbal vaporizer, either desktop mounted or portable. And therein lies the rub. These things are pricey. Real pricey depending on which one you get. A simple google search of "best herbal vaporizers" will get you to some reputable sites that are devoted to reviewing these things, so I recommend doing your research.

    Pros
-Access to any flower(strain) you can find. I imagine shopping for flower is alot like shopping for a fine wine, so there is value there for the true connoisseur.
-Satisfies the traditionalist looking for a session rather than a quick and discreet stick and move.

    Cons
    -Cost of paraphernalia
-Not as discreet as BHO. Same time needed to prepare your flower to be vaped as is required in packing a bowl. Some aroma as well, although not as strong as smoking.

    Hope this helps.

Dude, I thought I knew everything too, and then I got my card. I'm obsessed with helping others see the light now, as there is so much misinformation out there that is tied to the old days. I am routinely bringing it up at even the most innocuous of events such as children's bday parties(to their parents, of course) and light social gatherings amongst very professional gen xers. The goal is to force them to think critically instead of just adhering to their conditioned understanding that "weed is bad". I have a pretty good hit rate too, enlightening and encouraging a few to get their MMJ cards so they do not have to wait until 2018(California) to hit a dispensary. Most of us at this age are more concerned with health, so it is an easy sell when comparing to the calorie infested, hangover producing, habit forming intoxicant, alcohol.

You have some of the brightest minds in the world delving into the industry, most of which looking into capitalizing on the billions of dollars newly available, but others that are in it for the medical breakthroughs as well.

Aside from Trump(disregard this if it means D&D), it really is a pretty freaking amazing time to be alive.
