Uh, that is something interesting to think about, besides the injury concerns. Ariza would be needed at least.
eehh..if we need to include 3 players to make the contracts match then a trade will be very difficult. Which team will be willing to trade so many players for savings? Not many.
Tyson Chandler is our next Mutombo. I would love to see him out there for 20 minutes a night. Watching Whiteside abuse us the other night was a real eye opener.
Even if they aren't, Harden's the same age as those guys, if we're going to win with him we're going to have to go through the Warriors at some point. Also I don't think any of these moves would prevent Morey from being able to bring in another star down the road if one wanted to come here, no reason to not improve the team if it doesn't hurt you.
Nene is not going anywhere (I don't think). He has been great for us, gave us a deal to come here, will see a lot more time come playoffs, and will be a good player for us. His game fits what we need. He is a C that can create his own shot and he attacks the rim with power. I hope we can get another F or PF with Ennis, Brown, KJ, and picks somehow. Heck for the right guy include Ariza as well. I'm sure Morey and his staff have done extensive research and are considering all options. Do we go all in now or wait til summer to make any big moves that include Ariza? Ariza has been solid for us and has chemistry with Harden so it will be hard to move him.
Haven't read the whole thread yet, but Nene, KJ and Ennis get you to 7.9 million and enough to trade for W. Chandler. But would Morey do that and make our C position weaker? Without another plan for another backup center?
There's actually more at stake than just beating the Warriors. A lot of people on this board have said we aren't "really" the 3rd best team in the West. Getting to the WCF, even if we lose to the Warriors, has ancillary benefits. It's a lot better to sell to free agents that you are the team on the cusp of greatness if you lose a competitive WCF to the super team than it is to say "hey, I know we were the 3rd seed in the West and lost in the 2nd round but come join us and we'll be the best evar!"
