Cybe, any hint to whats next? Is Morey focusing more on front court rebounding help or is he done?

That's pretty vague wrt Woj comment. Be more specific?

Did Woj also said Rockets offered the only 2017? Someone did. Have to dig it out of the trade thread.

It's legal. We aren't talking about a free agent. It's a trade. If Morey can say it, so can any employee of the Rockets.

Wow....great team guy it sounds like. Thx for your take. I can see why Magic would want to do him a solid if there wasn't too much difference in the trade.

I'm getting mixed signals whether fans have a true beef or not that Magic had better offers on a technical basis, regardless of building good will with free agents. Even Woj rarely nows the protection of a pick or if it is a future upon his first tweets confirming the trade. The picks being offered prior to the Cousins trade going another way might have been futures, as they were going to Sacramento, no? They could have been pulled after the trade, too.

And the offers still available after the Cousins trade could have been futures.

fwiw:Here is one of the ESPN guys in LA.

Wow, this is amazing. I really would like to see the deals to compare.

Magic is smarter than I thought because this is exactly how you get players to sign for your organization.

Harden asked Pelinka partially jokingly to send Lou Will over.

More of a wrinkle in the story than a contributing factor to the final decision.

Harden needs to call other agents/GMs and half joke some more.

I think after hearing Vlade blunder through that presser saying that they originally had a better offer for Boogie, Lakers fans felt like they were getting a similar short end of the stick due to hearing a similar narrative.

When given proper context, (Brewer leading the tank, pick is unprotected, doing right by LW to build org. cache) I think they began to gain a better perspective on the trade and many came around on it. Especially with the multiple contingencies involving getting a top 3 pick this year.

He's GM of the Lakers. The solid is Pelinka called him to say he can no longer represent Harden. So, Harden jokingly said, do us a solid and trade Lou to us. Lou's not a free agent, so his agent is irrelevant.

    Magic screwing over Magic. Nice.

It's gonna be hard to get PG and lose to keep their picks. Impossible even because they will want to sell tickets and hype.

In this case Lou's agent was not irrelevant. Multiple reports (including Cyber) have verified that Magic Johnson worked with Lou's agent to send him where he wanted to go.

I don't think Harden will go to LA. He seems truly devoted to the Rockets organization and he has the organization behind him.

Interesting. Maybe the Rockets offer was the best in terms of it being a 2017 pick and salaries going 2 years. I think one of those teams may have been offering a player with a salary of 3 years after looking at the books. Maybe Magic knew Louis would pick the Rockets so he tried to build some clout in the process by making his player choose the team that's already offering the best deal. Still a smart move.

Great to hear this Mr. C! My only hedge on trading Brewer was loosing such a positive locker room presence. Sounds like we traded positive locker room guys. Brewer can mentor the young Lakers, much like Williams did. And, we get a guy that wants to be here. Now let's get a defensive big (someone over 6'10" please) to help Nene.

Twitter, NBA on TNT, ESPN, Bleacher Report told me last year that nobody wanted to play with James Harden.

Yeah, exactly my thinking. The media was ready to say Magic screwed up, when in reality, he was taking a common approach to doing a player a solid. Plus, there's evidence that it was still the only 2017 pick offered....and even WSH's 2017 might been very close to ours, when the season is over...then you have the question did WSH match salary like us, or was it more or longer contracts....etc etc.

wrt Vlade, I listened to the entire presser. He really got quoted out of context a lot in those tweets. imo, he was protecting the owner by implying the other offer (not more, just one) was pulled due to Kings owner hesitating, so it went cold. AND, together with this info of cyberx, it could have gone cold from the 3rd Team with the pick that they would get for Lou and ship to Kings. It is not necessarily Vlade's fault at all. He sounded exhausted and defeated that their "process" missed a better offer, and he had to spend so much energy convincing the owner to trade the franchise.

Exactly! Bird is a stingy guy. He won't do any favors for Magic Johnson.
