Lou Williams traded to Rockets for Corey Brewer, first round pick

The Rockets informed Corey Brewer he was traded to the Lakers following Tuesday's practice. "Yeah, I was surprised," Brewer said to ESPN. "I wasn't expecting to be moved. Teams are trying to makes moves at the deadline. (Houston) wanted another scorer and they made the trade. I respect their decision." Brewer's shot just wasn't consistent with the Rockets. He was averaging a career-low 4.2 points per game and despite shooting 50 percent from the field the past seven games, he shot just 28.9 percent in the previous 10 games. "If I was making shots, I would probably still be here, you never know," Brewer said. "I love Houston I don't want to leave but I have no choice. I hope my shots starts falling with the Lakers."

Seems like he and Harden are the only other playe I've seen draw multiple 3-point shooting fouls in the same game several times this season.

Has there been anything on when the trade will be consummated? Extending this to Thursday will give Morey more flexibility for an additional trade to tack on to this one.

It's kind of hard to dislike Brewer.

 

Just read that Lou is under contract for a mere 7 million next year....

 

Such a great trade and for both teams too. Man, that lineup of Lou, Gordon, Harden is a lineup of death.

 

But easy to dislike his game....or lack there of.

Kind of makes me feel bad for the dude. Then again he is a millionaire...

 

At first I was a little skeptical at the trade. I like Lou Williams but Gordon is basically Lou but with less scoring potential and more shooting.

I wanted Morey to get another guard to be insurance for Bev and Gordon but was looking at an older PG like Barbosa or a Nelson that wouldn't demand as many minutes. I wasn't sure how he would fit with Bev, Gordon and Harden already manning pretty much all the minutes at the guard position.

For it to work, Harden is going to have to play some back up SF and take most if not all of the the 16mpg that Brewer had. We are going to have to run some small lineups of Williams or Bev with Gordon and Harden. Harden does have the strength to guard opposing SF and even PF if we are playing the elite ones and Ariza is at the 4.

SG: Bev (24) / Gordon (26)
SF: Ariza (32) / Harden (12) / Dekker (4)
PF: Anderson (32) / Dekker (16)
C: Capela (28) / Nene (20)

Honestly, running Bev and Lou together will kind of remind me of playing Brooks and Lowry together. That worked extremely well for Aldeman and the Rockets back then and I think Bev and Lou are better than Brooks and Lowry, at that time.

 

Gordon and WILLIAMS OFFENSIVE FIREPOWER....How fun is this team gonna be?

 

I don't think people realize how good of a season Lou is having. He's only playing 24 minutes per game. His per 36 scoring is at 28 ppg. He's not a spark plug right now, he's napalm.

 

How hilarious would it be if this trade lit a fire in Brewer and he activated God mode and led the lakers to a 15 game winning streak to make them lose the top 3 pick. I mean it could happen right?

Aww I'm glad Corey can do something productive helping the young guys. Hopefully he will be happy in LA with the nice weather and such.

And Lou will be happy here with the big booty thots and 3 heavy offense

 

Their best line up will have to be Gordon Harden and Lou on the court at the same time.... Who cares the position.... Just have them play

 

I gotta say....this bummed the hell outta me...
