He is a great man, that is why I wish him the best. But damn he is such a terrible basketball player.

I can see why you would think he is an odd fit. However the reality is that Williams is an excellent fit. The Rockets needed another guard to run and create when Harden was on the bench or when Harden was drawing too much attention and players like Anderson and Ariza are struggling. Lou Williams is excellent at that. While his three point shooting is a career high 38%}, his ability to run and score off the pick and roll is the bigger asset. He is in the 95% percentile on the PNR. His effectiveness in the PNR is reflected in his ability to get to the line.

With Williams, the Rockets now can experiment more with Harden at the 3 and run a side kick for Harden (Gordon or Williams) which will keep Harden fresh and should make the Rockets offense even more lethal.

Defensively Williams has come a long way. He is a below average one on one defender. He is small and can be blown by or bullied. However he makes proper rotations and has increased his efforts the last 3-4 years. As a result he is an average team defender. Couple that with the frequency the Rockets switch and he will be fine defensively. Giving Williams heavy minutes will let the Rockets defensively at SF some as well. Harden is a good defender at the small forward spot.

I am a little surprised that the Rockets surrendered their #1 this early before the deadline. However the move overall helps the Rockets this year and next.

A guard rotation of Harden, Gordon, Williams and Beverley is elite. The names may not jump out at you but the actual production and efficiency is special.

great move. lou can really score and will be valuable in case ego or james have to miss a game.

he also could be deadly in a lineup with james and ego.

compared to the late first round pick we're giving up, i say its a great trade.

Doesn't matter if he is an odd fit or not. He is a movable asset and it won't hurt chemistry if they move him. Or they can use him. This is a win/win.

Actually, if you have a young team and are trying to lose games while also helping the team grow, I can see how and why Magic wanted Brewer. The man is NOT DUMB, even though I don't even really like Magic.

First, Brewer is a vet whom the young players will have to give some respect to.
Second, Brewer is a great locker room guy and will help the Lakers get that team spirit back.
Third, Brewer will make every practice like it's a game and teach those young guys how to work hard all the time.
Fourth. And most importantly, Brewer won't make many shots so the Lakers will lose more by playing him and hopefully get in the top 3 picks this year to keep their 1st round pick.

    Magic is a GENIUS!!!! :D

Wow, have to say Magic is pretty good to be a GM, Corey is definitely a MVP type of player if they want to get those top picks ;)

It wasn't that bad a deal for Magic. The Lakers need to lose and Williams doesn't help them do that. Brewer is a professional and will play very hard.

Really the Lakers just collected another #1.

Just give Morey the Executive of the Year award now. He's now given D'Antoni and Harden THREE ELITE shooters in a span of one season.

Getting out of Brewer's contract is nice, but I still don't see a lot of minutes for Lou.

Seems like a good trade on paper. But with Lou, we have 2 backup SG's w/him & Gordon. Outta the 2, somebody will have their minutes cut. Plus who is Ariza's back up? Kj?

Brewer will prob put up another 50 point game for the Lakers before the season is over.

I think this trade solidifies us as a 3 seed, but no higher than that.

Great trade either way though for next year. We can't waste anymore years of Harden's prime. Picks are great but we need ready to win players now.

Bev and Gordon are injury prone and Harden and Ariza play too many minutes.

Brewer averaged about 16 mpg and Lou about 24. Cut a minute or two from those four guys and get Lou to about 20+.
