It's not Morey's fault the players don't play hard or with urgency. He's done his job. This is the same team that went to WCF finals last year - it is championship caliber.
Morey doesn't deserve to be fired. He brought basically the same WESTERN CONFERENCE TEAM back and added Lawson / Thornton. He would have looked a lot worse if he gutted the team & they barely made playoffs. He has another 3 years. Find a new coach and see what happens from there. I don't think he should have his Morey-Ball philosophy on the coach. GM shouldn't be deciding how players play.
1. An Owner who overreacts and has a bad reputation as a coach killer thanks to the handling of Mchale, Adelman, and JVG. 2. A GM who is seen as the braniac that is too smart for his own good pushing a flawed system that doesn't work. Meanwhile, despised by many NBA GM's because of much unwarranted praise he has received in the past. 3. A Head Coach who obviously is not ready for the position. When he is fired, he will become the next martyr adding to the problem outlined in #1 above. 4. A Superstar that doesn't put in the effort on the defensive side of the ball AND who doesn't have the fire of a Kobe/Lebron/Westbrook/Curry. 5. A 2nd Superstar(?) who has always been thought of as soft, childish, and unwilling to put in the work to improve his post game and free throw shooting who is also known as a coach killer who over rates his own offensive skills. 6. Supporting cast that, for the most part, consists of misfits, knuckleheads and bad fits for the team's flawed offensive philosophy. 7. Absolutely zero chemistry. Players that don't get along even on the court. Lack of effort on defense by best player leading to lack of effort or even emphasis by the coaching staff on half the game. 8. .....and on and on and on....
so if trevor ariza and corey brewer took more mid-range 2's, you think this team would win a lot more?
But at the same time I think the owner wants this fast style of play. I think we need a strong smart coach that can implement some of Daryl Morey's vision but mainly handles how the team plays.
'zactly. The Trevor Ariza pick and roll and the Corey brewer ISO drive are painful to watch. Trevor actually shot 37% from 3 this year - the 2nd highest % of his career. He also had 160 steals - the most in his career. He's just streaky as hell and seems to be bothered by good close outs (which good teams do). People are acting like he had Brewer-like numbers. His man defense suffered but Ariza is not the problem by a long shot.

Seriously...think Morey is a hawk and totally attacks teams with new mgmt...The Rockets essentially traded a very late 1st rounder to get rid of Brewer's contract AND get Lou Williams on a reasonable contract. Secondary play-maker off the bench...This is Lin 2.0 in terms of the trade. The Rockets still have to get a big...Anderson alone wont cut it...
