Lou Williams traded to Rockets for Corey Brewer, first round pick

Here's the guy we should consider our late first-round pick for this year:

 

It would be his third year, but point taken. He signed a straight up three year deal with no opt out. I thought I heard Zach Lowe say on his podcast this morning that Lou had an opt out.

 

I would honestly be stunned if that extra first makes the difference in whether they get a star, but we'll see I guess.

 

Rockets are packed on the wings now, doubt we trade for another. Unless Ariza gets shipped out. I think Rockets are focusing on bringing in a big now with Lou here.

 

Before I celebrate I wanna make sure the 1st we gave is the 2017 one and not some future one.

 

I'm totally with you regarding our glaring defensive issues. That said, we gain more by adding Lou than by losing what little Brewer added. Now, back to defense....

 

I'm starting to like this deal tbh, like others already said, we have control on a player with a pretty good contract which seems to have a lot of fans around the nba, if we'll get commitment from a top free agent this summer we can free some space a lot easier now, hell, we may get a pick back for Williams instead of losing one to dump Brewer...

Capela is an anomaly, guys like him usually don't fall to 25.

Its not like the Rox are lacking in young players that we need a 1st round pick so badly, Capela, Dekker, Harrell, Chinanu and Wiltjer all need more PT to show their stuff so adding 2 more rookies (1st+2nd rnd pick) would make us look like we're tanking or something.

I could see if he was say a guy that relied on athleticism at 30 and killed both knees like Amare a few years back. But SHOOTING guards can last till almost 40 ala Ray Allen, Jason Kidd (I know he played point but in Dallas he was more of a shooter), and Jason Terry.

I don't see why he would be a bad coop unless he has some unknown injury that will pop up in a year or two. Good grab, our bench is gonna shoot the lights out once Gordon and Anderson are back to 100%

Brewer is salary matching. And I'm sure he'll be a great practice dummy for Ingram. If nothing else, he's a solid professional, who will give the rookie a solid workout in practice.
