Gallo and it's not close for me. Brewer, McDaniels, Dekker, and a pick works....but then again those 3 work for almost any decent player in the league.
Play on words..... People used to get parsons and Wilson confused so I threw Tyson in to poison the well. Apologies for potentially ruining an outstanding thread.
Think Gallo might be a bit underrated by many now due to his injuries. Realistically with our assets, what better talent could we get without flipping half the roster? A healthy Gallo is damn near borderline all-star when in his grove, much like Eric Gordon. Gallo is supremely talented with his 3pt shooting, ball handling, driving ability, mid range game, post game, rebounding and foul drawing on a athletic 6'10 frame. He would fit great with Harden/MDA in Houston, only worry is he might be a rental, might get overpaid big time this off season. I think a Brewery/Dekker for DG deal would be spot on. We loose Dekker who is a real asset with potential, but for a playoff run with Gallo, dumping Brewer and first dibs on re-signing Gallo. For those suggesting DG is the same as Anderson, that's wrong. They may both be 6'10 white guys with shots, but Danilo's athleticism, ball handling and finishing ability at the rim is on a completely different level compared to Anderson. Danilo is a SF who can play PF (think Dekker), Anderson is a PF who's too slow to even guard PF's.
Gallinari's father, Vittorio Gallinari, played professional basketball with Olimpia Milano (along with future head coach Mike D'Antoni)
I would swap Gallo for Ryan Anderson any day of the week and twice on Sunday.... and then fed Chandler also... GOD I WISH!!
Can we give away Ariza, Brewer, KJ and first round pick for both of them? That would be amazing but Denver is not that crazy
It should be clear to everyone that Gallo is the better player and fit. While Chandler has the better reputation as a defender the numbers don't exactly tell that story. It's not close offensively. Like @baller4life315 said Gallo is the Gordon version of forwards, except he's likely better. This team needs to replace brewer. This team needs a secondary ball handler. This team needs another knockdown shooter. Gallo provides secondary ball handling and creation from the forward spot, which is something we seriously lack and would be huge Imo. He's also a knockdown shooter who can step in when Ryno is off and does play the 3. His defense is average and he has some serious serious length. That length is perfect for our switching defense. Gallo is similar to rhyno and Gordon, where they are forgotten because of injuries but played at near all Star levels before. Having 3 fringe all stars/high-end role players surrounding Harden is something similar to the Detroit pistons model and probably the only way we can beat gsw. His FA also keeps us flexible as well as allows us to resign him with bird rights and operate over the cap added the MLE to add another player. He could be had at a reduced price of like 15-18m if we are lucky also.
And it's not like Chandler is hystorically that healty tbh...he basically palyed 80 games only two times in his career. Gallo is a free agent though, and with MDA i can see him looking at us as a top destination, that's why i wouldn't trade Dekker here...
Wilson Chandler is about $4 million dollars cheaper and on a longer term contract (control). Gallo has player option this summer. Wilson Chandler is Morey's huckleberry (Val Kilmer in "Tombstone" reference)
I would be happy with either of these guys but for me I would be targeting PJ Tucker over both of them- mainly because Phoenix is terrible and is probably a more willing trade partner. Phoenix needs to rebuild and get younger and has no need for 31 year old Tucker. Tucker is a good defender and a decent although inconsistent 3 point shooter. He is a very similar player to Ariza and would help improve our defense and give us another Swiss army knife kind of player. Something like KJ, Ennis and a 2nd might get it done giving them 2 young players and a draft pick to start building around Booker. Denver would, I think, be asking for more for their players since they are in the playoff race. Out of Gallinari and Chandler I think I would prefer Chandler but would be happy with either depending what we had to give up. Regardless, in my opinion, our first priority should be a rim protecting and rebounding big.
WHAT IS THIS MADNESS! Peaceful music? During F5 season?! Naw seriously for a wet morning with most of the lights out in the house and my twin babies sleeping, this is great music. Perfect. Thanks!
How about we trade for Wilson Chandler and when Gallinari hits free agency this offseason we go and sign him. I'd think we'd have a good chance at signing him because of his father's relationship with D'Antoni.
